Ankle Sprains & Balance Training - Health - Fitness

Most of the athletes and football players face the problem with troubled ankles, ankle sprains or twists during their play or practice session. To prevent injuries related to an ankle, the players and athletes used ankle tapes but from the past observations the ineffectiveness, this procedure is required to be reconsidered as it doesn't give the desired results. Earlier, ankle injuries and high body mass index also increases the chances of non-contact inversion ankle sprains among athletes and football players. The risk of non-contact inversion ankle sprains increases in such cases due to the unfit ankle and improper balance of the body during the play or practice sessions of the football which involves high physical activity. The non-contact inversion ankle sprain affects the performance of the player as they have to miss the practice session or even the game match.

To reduce the occurrence of non-contact inversion ankle sprains the physicians and health instructors have emphasized the implementation of single limb balance training among the football player or athletes. The survey is conducted by the athletic therapist to find out the results of using single limb balance training on the foam stability pad for high school football players who are more vulnerable to the ankle injuries while playing.

They underwent the single limb balance training on the foam pad for few weeks before the football season began and also during the season of football matches. This single limb balance training session has been made compulsory for them in their exercising routine and the therapists ensure that the players are participating regularly in the single limb balance training session. And if they miss any session of the exercise then they are forced to make up for that missed session.

The athletic therapist are required to observe the occurrence of non-contact inversion ankle sprains after using the single limb balance training by the players or athletes. And the outcome of single limb balance training session is really favorable as it decreases the reoccurrence of ankle sprains among the players.
