Top NCAA 09 Football Cheats for Unlockables - Hobbies

While cheating in sports is never a good thing, it is, however, a somewhat acceptable practice when you're playing sports...through a video game. If you're looking for some cheats to make life easier for your team in NCAA 09 Football, here are several helpful tips for the game's unlockables to get you started.

A/V Club President

If you want to try for this role, all you have to do is upload a photo or video highlight and the presidency is all yours.

Cue the Fat Lady

Want to see some fancy graphics from NCAA Football 09? Try winning by at least twenty-one points in either a Dynasty Mode or Play Mode game and you'll get to cue the Fat Lady in.

Get Creative

One of the nicest things about NCAA Football is its customizability. If you want to "get creative" in this version, you'll have to get a touchdown with at least 1 lateral first. Do keep in mind as well that this will only work if you're playing a non-option game.

High School Hero

If you've always dreamt of bringing home the bacon to your school, carried atop the shoulders of your peers, NCAA Football 09 is giving you that chance. To be the High School Hero, you just have to become one of the game's 5-star legend prospect.

I'm Special

How does it feel to be special? Try kicking off back to your house for a touchdown in Dynasty or Play Now mode and you'll find out exactly how being "special" to your team feels like.

Ice in Your Veins

Players with ice in their veins are legends regardless of the sport they're playing. To earn this ice-cold title, you just need to give your team the lead as the shot clock winds down to nothing. Get the lead, get the ice!

Is That Even Legal?

That kind of question tends to come up when the trickiest moves in NCAA Football are played. But if you're playing NCAA Football 09, all you have to do is convert a missed field goal into a TD and you'll hear that question loud and clear.

Mr. February

It might make you sound like a calendar boy, but actually, Mr. February is a pretty cool title since it's only awarded to the season's best recruiting class. The title, however, is only up for grabs when you're playing Dynasty Mode.

These cheats are only good for unlocking the most wanted features of NCAA Football 09. But if you're looking for a shortcut to victory, now that's good for another article.

Customized Athletic Promotional Gifts: School Spirit Ideas for Booster Clubs and Athletic Departments - Sports

Customized athletic promotional gifts are fabulous for boosting school spirit and pumping up a crowd for the big game. Booster Clubs and school athletics departments looking for ideas to generate fan support often turn to customized athletic promotional gifts. Not only do they make excellent giveaways, they can also be used to stock the school's or team's gift shop and raise money for sports programs, equipment and athletic scholarship programs. They can also outfit the team and create a sense of unity and excitement.

The North American Booster Club Association recognizes the importance of athletics and team spirit in the lives of students everywhere. NABCA's mandate is to promote school athletics programs and the parents who work hard to ensure that those programs continue. The NABCA recognizes that sports and athletics "enhances the educational experiences of all kids." Unfortunately, extracurricular sports programs and school athletics courses are in danger of ceasing to exist in many schools in North America. Budget cuts and lack of outside support are the major reasons for the downfall of school sports. Because of this, the NABCA supports the efforts of booster clubs to maintain school spirit in the face of declining financial support and keep school athletics programs intact. One way to help is through the use of customized athletic promotional gifts.

Imagine stadiums of high school football fans waving customized pennants or pom poms in support of the team at the annual homecoming game. Picture pristine practice uniforms complete with team names and logos on each shirt and pair of shorts. Imagine the noise at your school's next pep rally when students are outfitted with customized whistles and noisemakers, all in support of the school team. Whether you're looking for giveaways or need fundraising products, try these customized athletic promotional gift ideas on for size at your next Booster Club meeting:

Noisemakers: Make some noise in the stands with customized athletic promotional gifts like kazoos, clappers, horns and tambourines. With your school's or team's name emblazoned prominently on the side, there will be no doubt about which side you're cheering for.

Sweatbands, wristbands and bracelets: Sweatbands stitched with your team's name are a great accessory for creating unity amongst sports team members. They're also highly practical for both games and practices. Wristbands and bracelets are excellent items to carry in your school's spirit store. Or, simply take orders from students and parents for a spirit-boosting fundraiser.

Practice uniforms or gym strip: Your school's or team's name on shirts, shorts, socks and other athletic wear will let everyone around know that athletic programs are supported at your school.

Jackets and outerwear: The game must go on, even when it rains. Team jackets will keep athletes and fans alike warm and dry on game days when the weather is less than ideal.Sports/duffel bags: Keep balls, equipment and uniforms together and tidy with a team-logo duffel bag. They're handy for transporting equipment, especially to away games. Drawstring bags are a convenient way to carry shoes or practice clothes.

Best of all, customized athletic promotional gifts are economical. It's important to make the most of your Booster Club's budget. Parents work hard to raise money to ensure that their children will have athletics programs to enrich their lives. Customized athletic promotional gifts let students and fans know that sports are important and that parents, teachers and coaches care.

NCAA Football: The Future of the Game - Sports

For those who are fans of football, the idea of not following college teams is not even an option; NCAA football is where the game is really played - played by younger players who are passionate about the sport and who are playing for a love of the game rather than playing for the paycheck. More importantly though, for those who watch USC, Ohio State, Wake Forest, Texas Tech, Penn State and other NCAA football teams, the reason for watching runs much deeper.

In some cases, the draw to NCAA football is a matter of school loyalty. Graduates from Division I schools like Auburn or Florida find themselves setting aside time to watch NCAA football games that are broadcast by ESPN and CBS Sports just to see how the team that they used to watch every week during the season are doing.

In other cases, the appeal of NCAA football is something bigger: the fans of NCAA football know that there are going to be a number of future NFL players out on the field and they want to start thinking about who just might make it to the big leagues and turn pro. Again, many of these NCAA football fans are those who have a love of the game more than a love of college sports; they are curious about the next great talents, the way that players approach the game and what they are able to bring to the sport.

It's for this reason that, right alongside the pros, NCAA football tournaments that determine the season champions are aired each year. New Year's Day, NCAA football fans are going to find themselves glued to the TV watching the FedEx Orange Bowl that takes place in Miami and the Rose Bowl Game presented by Citi that takes place in Pasadena, California. In 2009, the Orange Bowl and Rose Bowl will be followed on January 2nd by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on January 5th in Glendale, AZ, and the National Championship game - also to be held in Miami - on January 8th.

NCAA football is all about making sure that the colleges and universities that participate in collegiate football have a chance to compete - that the NCAA football players have the chance to show what they are made of and to learn more about playing the game in front of a national audience. The bowl games and the championship game are about letting the best teams within NCAA football to rise to the top.

While most fans of football find themselves watching NCAA football as an opportunity to see the future of the game, there are few cases in which there are as many benefits as those presented to high school starters. High school players who want to be sure that they are able to pursue their dreams will look to NCAA football as an opportunity to see which schools they hope to apply to and play for. For them, NCAA football is something that they hope will be their future in football.

Let's Look at the Madden Football Curse - Sports - Football

Historically, few people are more superstitious than athletes. From eating the same thing before every game to wearing the same old t-shirt under their pads during each game, athletes and fans alike look for any reason to explain victories, losses, hot streaks, and cold runs. This expands into the world of video games, let's take a look at The Madden Curse.

The Madden Curse is the belief that bad things can happen to the player or the player's team that is featured on the cover of the All-Madden football game each year.

Madden NFL '99

This is the first year that All-Madden Football carried a picture of a player on the cover, that player was Garrison Hearst. Hearst had a career year in 1999 and was one of the hotter names in the NFL at the time. After appearing on the cover, he led the 49ers in rushing and to a first round playoff win over the Green Bay Packers. In their next playoff game against the Atlanta Falcons, Hearst would go down with a knee injury and wouldn't play again until the 2001 season.

Madden NFL 2000

Barry Sanders appeared on the cover with John Madden for the 2000 edition of All-Madden Football. Sanders had a long and impressive career and was still putting up some of the best numbers in the league, as well as some of the most exciting plays. A week before training camp opened for the season, Barry Sanders retired leaving the Detroit Lions with no effective running game.

Madden NFL 2001

During the 2001 season following his appearance on the Madden Football cover, Eddie George averaged 3 yards a carry (a career low) and only ran for just over 900 yards rushing while battling a nagging toe injury.

Madden NFL 2002

The year before, Daunte Culpepper had thrown for over 4,000 yards and completed 33 touchdown passes. After appearing on the cover of Madden NFL 2002, Culpepper went on to throw just 13 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions before having his season ended in week 11 because of injury.

Madden NFL 2003

Running back Marshall Faulk appeared on the Madden NFL 2003 cover. Faulk had one of his best years in the league the previous season, but after appearing on the cover he missed five regular season games due to an ankle injury. He never again rushed for more than 1,000 yards in a season. The Rams would go 7-9 on the year, one year removed from a 14-2 season that resulted in a Super Bowl appearance.

Madden NFL 2004

Michael Vick, quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons, appeared on the cover Madden NFL 2004. Five days after the cover was released, Michael Vick fractured his right fibula. He was only able to play in the last five regular season games that season.

Madden NFL 2005

Madden NFL 2005 saw the first defensive player appear on the cover, Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens. That season Lewis would have no interceptions after having made six the previous season. He would also be injured during week 15 of that season and be forced to miss the last game of the year. The Ravens would also miss the playoffs that year after having won their division the season before.

Madden NFL 2006

After having led the Eagles to the Super Bowl only to lose to the Patriots, Donovan McNabb appeared on the cover of Madden NFL 2006 the next season. Though the Eagles as a team would make it back to the NFC championship Game, McNabb would battle a sports hernia the entire season only to get knocked out of the game against the Dallas Cowboys and have season ending surgery.

Madden NFL 2007

Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander appeared on the Madden NFL 2007 cover the year after setting the record for most rushing touchdowns scored in a season. After missing only one game in his previous 64 starts, Alexander would miss six starts due to a fractured foot. He would go on to fail rushing for 1,000 yards in season for the first time since 2000.

Madden NFL 2008

During Tennessee Titans' quarterback Vince Young's season on the cover of Madden NFL 2008, he would go on to throw for less than 2,500 yards with 17 interceptions. Young would go on to be hurt and miss his first NFL game because of an injury. Up until that point, Young had never missed a game due to injury during his NFL, college, or high school seasons.

Superstitions have been around for a long time in sports, but the Madden Curse is a pretty good one with a long and lengthy history.

School Fundraisers and Promotional Magnets - Education

Fund Raising Ideas for Programs in Middle and High School

Your school already has yearly money raisers that the public remembers and often appreciates. The pizza, fruit, bread braids, and popcorn are great. Even greater are the parents who organize these moneymakers. The ordering, distributing, and trouble shooting is quite a job. Some organizers plans may include school magnets. Students may have many choices that reflect their involvement and activities at school. Kids may choose to buy their own magnets that reflect their interests or club memberships, but may buy others that support their friends organizations or sports too.

Magnets for Students

The magnets are small and easy to handle when distributing orders. Kids with metal lockers can display colorful and interesting magnets inside their locker door. They may open their locker and show their identities with just a glance. Magnets could become a fun collection for your students that will display their years and accomplishments in school.

Magnets for Teachers

Teachers may enjoy collecting magnets too. Most teachers sponsor special clubs, sports or extra activities. Plus magnets help display notices and assignments on their classroom marker boards. They might as well use a booster magnet.

Magnets for Parents

No home refrigerator should be without a magnet that reflects their students organizations and interests. The magnets may be the answer to clutter and priorities at home.

Magnet Designs

The people organizing this type of fundraiser have lots of design and background choices. Take a moment to see whats available.

Footballs

Banners

Golf balls

Stars

Mascot paw prints

Running shoes

Music notes

School buses

Megaphones

Apples

Keys

Lots and lots more

Consider a fresh new idea for your fundraisers. The hardest part of this is to choose from so many designs. Give it all a thought, but remember that if its your good idea you might find yourself on a new committee!

As a football coach - Sports

The sport of soccer has been deeply rooted as a niche game in the United States for decades. Youth teams, squads of high school and the increase in Major League Soccer has placed a premium on the quality of training. His role as a soccer coach requires that you are an educator to young players and a promoter of the sport to its community.

Set your style of coaching during football games. The size of the soccer game and the limitations of stoppages means they have to develop ways to communicate with the players during the match. Football coaches like Bruce Brownlee offer advice and anecdotes that will help you build comfortable with the strategy (see Resources later ).

Notre Dame Fighting Irish tickets - Handling Microeconomics and Football at the Same Time - Sports

If there are any good teachers in Microeconomics around in Notre Dame, please help Darius Fleming. Not that he is bad with this subject, but having some coaching at his disposal will allow him to focus on the game!

For now though, Darius Fleming seems to be all consumed with the idea of appearing for the Microeconomics paper in his final examinations. The added pressure of completing the freshmen linebackers Football 101 course by December 24th is really taking a lot of attention from Darius. Whether it is taking a toll on Darius game, that is another question altogether! But these distractions can definitely be done well without. And even if they do present themselves, they need to be fixed fast.

To his credit, Darius has been coping with the stress admirably well. This lanky and burly defensive guy from Chicago has already shown students the way forward in professional games. With 21 tackles and couple of sacks, he is a guy most opponents fear. Most other players from Notre Dame know his as an instinctive guy who reads the game play really well, and responds accordingly. Unfortunately for Darius, he is now facing with the prospect of integrating a bit of intelligence, not in his play but in his life!

Maybe, Darius could come out of it in flying colors. If he does, it could have been the best thing to have happened for Notre Dame and Darius playing career. Instinctive ability coupled with intelligence makes any player on the field dangerous. With the prowess of Darius, he surely would be able to send shivers down the opposition even before the game starts.

But really, it all boils down to how well he does in the Microeconomics paper. I cant believe I am talking about subjects in High School especially in a Sports column discussing a players potential. That though, unfortunately is a reality. Two academic events sandwiched with a big game against Hawaii means Darius himself has to do the balancing act, with no help forthcoming from any quarter.

Talk to Darius and he seems to get his priorities right. He knows where his loyalties are, and fortunately for Notre Dame, the answer is exactly what they would have wanted to hear. Darius is focusing like a horse on the Hawaii game, which is only good news for the ND. With their main player in the team focused as anyone, they can hope to win the bowl games and possibly qualify for other bigger bowl games.

But Darius is no stone, and somewhere in the back of his mind, the prospect of a tough subject in his final year and the academic course for a line backer should be looming on his mind. Only time will tell how Darius would be able to cope with these multiple distractions, if one may say.

It is important to contact the coaches of prospective colleges and determine what they are looking for in a student athlete. Waiting on them to call would be a mistake, given the vast number of hopefuls in other schools. Initiating contact can accelerate the recruiting process and let an applicant know what coaches are interested in.All received emails and letters from schools should be considered, even if they are not part of the top colleges or first in college football ranking. Coaches who dont receive any response from letters will naturally assume the student is not interested. Do not leave out any possibility unless the decision has been made and finalized. A so-called second or even last choice may prove to be only one.It is very, very important to be as professional as possible during high school football recruiting. There are no second chances when making first impressions with college coaches and administrators. Immaturity and irresponsibility will easily turn away and discourage a potential coach. Maintain respect for all involved as much as possible. Do not underestimate the influence other people can have to coaches in regards to assessing students character. Build a good working relationship with college coaches, and make sure to maintain these relationships. Receiving a let ter from a college or university doesnt mean an automatic recruitment. As mentioned already, following up and checking in with college coaches expresses interest on the part of the student.Fortunately, the Internet has proved to be a useful venue for both athletes and coaches looking for new talent. There are many websites and online forums wherein students and scouts can come together and interact on things such as college football ranking and other relevant topics. Get More Information on New York Summer High Schools - Education

Getting an internship while in high school is not common practice, but it can pave the way for the student's future career. High school work experience in an area of career interest will provide the student with valuable skills and experience. Very few high school state champions or NCAA champions wrestle only during the regular scholastic season. Most elite wrestlers do not simply wrestle three or four months out of the year. Per iodization is simply the planning of your training for a specific period of time. Different types of Periodization exist including linear, undulating, concurrent, and conjugate. Periodization consists primarily of three phases: the preparatory, competitive, and transition phases.

Whether looking for a Christian academy, Jewish academy, private high schools or private elementary schools, taking a school tour is usually the first step in the application process. Tours, or open houses, are done differently in each school. Therefore, touring with a purpose is important in finding and getting into the private school of your choice. Touring a private school is much more than seeing if you get that "good" feeling about the place. Going on a tour is like looking for a job. You want a place where you can grow, be challenged and that will be fun. To do that you need to... rock your private school tours!

Free New York online high schools are becoming increasingly common. Less than three years ago, a student would have to look far and wide to find a program that was not either a commercial school or a university-based school. There are three basic kinds of free online high schools. They are: Charter schools, Department of Education-sponsored or school-district-sponsored schools, Corporate-sponsored, but state-approved schools. It's no surprise that New York high-school football is a dangerous sport. Permission for child to play means accepting the increased risk of torn ligaments, broken bones, and head injuries. But most recently, child safety experts have suggested that the risk of head injuries could be much higher than originally thought. But High School Football was the greatest preparation for the challenges that life could deliver. Participating in high school football sports is important for motor skill development, maintaining a healthy exercise program and provide s for a release of anger when the academic stressors become overwhelming.

If you are serious about making college coaches aware of you and your basketball abilities and skills, attend a fall NCAA-certified event. An NCAA-Certified event is a basketball tournament or camp that college coaches attend to see play of girls basketball high school. The NCAA has to approve the event in order for it to be considered certified. Once your basketball season is over don't sit down and do nothing. This creates stagnation in your performance and development. If possible, find a team to play with. Playing with a team during the summer months in New York provides great benefits for a player.

The point is that New York junior Middle Schools recognize younger kids shouldn't be treated like older kids. Many of the original concepts have fallen by the way side, but much of the core, like interdisciplinary courses, Connections courses, common planning time, and the team centered scheduling approach remain an active part of schools today. Before summer truly begins a special occasion must take place for it to really be summer vacation, and that's graduation. A graduation gift for a Middle School/Junior High Grad has to be something that your pre-teen or new teen will enjoy.

4 of the Biggest Rivalries in the History of NCAA Division I Football - Sports - Football

What would college football be without rivalries? Rivalries can make regular season games seem like playoff games. Battling another school across the state border or within the state can be the biggest game of the season. The players get excited. The players get excited. The community gets excited! Here are some of the most noteworthy rivalries in NCAA football:

1. Florida Gators and Florida State SeminolesThese two teams have been battling in their intrastate rivalry, since 1958. Florida leads the series, 31-19-2. People sometimes refer to this competition as the "Sunshine Showdown" (referring to Florida's nickname as the Sunshine State), or the "Governor's Cup." Adding to the thrill of the game, one or both of the schools' football teams have had high national rankings the week of their meeting, since 1990. In fact, since Bobby Bowden began coaching Florida State in 1976, the series has been virtually deadlocked.

2. UCLA Bruins and USC TrojansHow intense is the intrastate rivalry between UCLA and USC? It even has a name. The Lexus Gauntlet refers to the competition between USC and UCLA, involving head-to-head competitions in 18 varsity sports. Both universities have participatory events during the week before the clash of the two football teams. USC refers to the week as "Conquest" or "Troy Week." On the other hand, UCLA calls that week "Beat SC Week" (the less combative official title is "Blue and Gold Week.")

By the way, what exactly are Bruins and Trojans? A Bruin is a huge, vicious bear in Europe and Asia. Meanwhile, the Trojans were citizens of Troy-an ancient city in modern-day Turkey.

3. Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M AggiesThis rivalry is as big as the state of Texas. The teams' football teams annually battle each other on the day following Thanksgiving. The teams do this to give the rivalry a national spotlight. Here is some interesting trivia about the rivalry:

Begun in 1900, the teams' rivalry is the third longest one in college football Activities such as Texas' "Hex Rally" and Texas A&M's "Aggie Bonfire" precede the game. The Aggies "honor" Texas in their "Aggie War Hymn" fight song, while the Longhorns wish their rivals a "goodbye" in their "Texas Fight" fight song.

4. Western Michigan Broncos and Central Michigan ChippewasThe Broncos were actually once Hilltoppers. That referred to its East Hall sitting atop Prospect Hill. However, in 1939 Western Michigan changed the name of its athletic teams to the Broncos. At that time, other Hilltoppers existed, such as the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

Meanwhile, the Chippewas, or "Chips" represent Central Michigan University. The team represents the Saginaw Chippewa Native American tribe, which lives in the region. Ironically, while the university maintains a constructive relationship with the American Indians, in 2005 the NCAA included the name "Chippewas" on its list of "hostile" or "abusive" nicknames. However, Central Michigan successfully appealed the judgment.

Rivalries are essential to the thrill of NCAA football. Regardless of which team you cheer for, use NCAA merchandise to show your support!

College Football: Game Plays and Recruitment - Careers - Recruitment

In college sports, players in various sports are tested and trained to be included in college teams. Among these sports is college football. College football is one of the most popular sports in the USA. The goal is to score points by getting the ball into the opposing team's court, or end zone. The ball can be thus brought there by carrying (called a running play) or by throwing it to a teammate known as a passing play). Points can be then scored in a variety of ways, which includes the following actions: carrying the ball over the other team's goal line; catching a pass from another player; kicking the ball through the goal posts located at the opponent's end zone; and tackling an opposing ballcarrier within his end zone. The team with the most points when the time expires is considered the winner.

In every game, each team is either on offense or defense. The designation reflects the division which is that one team has possession of the ball (and is thus able to score) while the other defends and tries to prevent the other team from advancing the ball into the endzone. There are two ways to move the ball forward. One is by holding the ball and running with it. The other is by throwing the ball to a teammate who then runs with the ball until he reaches the endzone. The defense, on the other hand, can deter the offense by tackling the offensive player who is holding the ball. The teams alternately switch roles between offense and defense.

American professional football, indeed, has its origins in college football. It remains extremely popular today among students, alumni, and other fans of the sport. As there are many students who are gifted in football eagerly pursuing a college degree, college football recruiting remains a significant activity for students and colleges alike. Some exceptional students have enough talent to attract the attention of scouts and coaches while still in high school. Others, however, need to make extra effort in order to get ahead in the process.

The Internet has proven to be an important and indispensable venue for both athletes and coaches in the college football recruiting process. There are many websites and online forums wherein students and scouts can interact and share information college football and college football recruiting. D1Athletes is an online community wherein athletes and coaches alike can share and exchange information they need. D1Athletes offers them a place to build an online presence and gain important public exposure.

Strongman Vs. Power Cleans For Football - Sports - Football

You might disagree, but hear me out on this... as an ex-college football player and currently as a strength coach, I have found the utilization and teaching of Olympic lifts to be tedious, inefficient and down-right boring.

As a college athlete I hardly found the patience to learn the correct lifting technique for the power clean. Although I held the St. John's University power clean record my freshman season, muscling 335 lbs. (152 kg) off the platform - my technique was completely flawed and the attempt looked more like an Axle C&P in Strongman than the smooth pull of an Olympic Weightlifter.

After undergrad I studied Exercise Science at the graduate level. The director of the Masters program was an avid Olympic Weightlifting coach and ex-competitor. He spent hours with the students teaching us the finer points and intricacies of how to perform a proper Clean & Jerk. Once we were proficient enough at performing these lifts we were granted permission to then coach the university's athletes on how to use these lifts to better their sports performance.

I remember the very first day that I was given the "OK" to start coaching the athletes; I was assigned to the football team. Since I had been a former college football player myself, I felt that I would instantly be greeted with fellowship and amity. This was NOT the case! In fact, there were a few of the kids who hated the fact that I was there. I sensed their apprehension in allowing me to coach them, and they especially hated it when I taught them how to Olympic lift.

As it happened, many of the more "meat head-ish" type football players confided in me that they wanted to, "lift heavier weights and stop wasting time with this BS." It turned out, it was during the off-season prior to my debut that these athletes were first exposed to the technicalities of OL. It was also the first time that they were coached in the weight room by graduate students instead of their sports coach. They have previously been using a power lifting model that yielded great size and strength gains.

I do believe that including power cleans and other Olympic lifts into a Strength and Conditioning Program for football players is beneficial. But, I also believe that - the less an athlete has to "think" about a movement, the more ATTITUDE he can bring to its accomplishment. Also, I am a big advocate for saving time. I hate nothing more than "getting things RIGHT before getting them going". It is a personal philosophy of mine that 'success is more a product of attitude... than of technique' (granted, that you're not taking foolish risks and causing injury).

Consider for a moment - when you are coaching a player on the Kick-Off Team do you tell him...

"Look Johnny, you've gotta sprint down there with your elbows at a 90 degree angle, your jaw relaxed, hands in a loose fist and be sure to breathe through pursed lips. Now, when you get to the first blocker take a short inhalation and hold your breath, brace your abdominals and furrow your brow and your dip your hips, lower your shoulder and explode though him by extending your ankles, knees and hips in a simultaneous manner."

If this sounds crazy to you, consider that this is the way that Olympic lifts are typically taught. Instead of letting the athlete "do his thing", we spend hours 'breaking down' and analyzing the movement for them. These valuable hours spent "teaching" could very well be used for building real strength and speed in a timely fashion. In the same manner that you coach your athletes to go "balls to the wall" on the football field, you can coach them to go "balls to the wall" in the weight room as well. Also, besides getting bigger, faster and stronger by training like a maniac, these kids will then bring this type of ATTITUDE to the field more often. Like they say, "you play the way you practice."

Training in the weight room should be just as intense and as fun as training on the field. When athletes learn to "attack" an exercise in the gym like they attack a tackling dummy, they will develop size, strength, speed and, ATTITUDE faster than ever before. Also, for weight training to become a REAL part of your schools program, you've got to promote it as a benefit of being on the team, not just a necessity. I remember looking at a few small colleges when I graduated high school and one of the most important questions I asked was, "what kind of strength and conditioning program do you have?"

So, what the heck do you do if Olympic Lifts are not working?Train like the World's Strongest Men! Not only are Strongmen great examples of brute strength, they are also well conditioned, and possess great speed and power. Strongman exercises build functional strength, speed, power and most importantly ATTITUDE! Besides the performance benefits of flipping tires and loading sandbags, Strongman training is FUN and easy to teach.

In Part 2 I will give you my list of the best Strongman Exercises for building explosive strength, speed, size and attitude.

Football In The United States And Canada - Sports

In the United States, football means an entirely different sport than it does throughout the rest of the world. In these two North American nations, the game of football originated largely from various forms of rugby football in the United Kingdom plus some input from the game of soccer as it is played through most of the rest of the world.

* The game consists of four 15 minute quarters in professional and college football with quarters lasting twelve minutes at the high school level. Because of time outs and play stoppage after certain actions, the games typically last up to three hours with options for an extra quarter in the event of a tie game at the end of regulation play.

* Essentially, the game of American football is a team sport with eleven players on a side played on a field 360 feet long by 160 feet wide. The length of the playing area is 100 yards from goal post to goal post with a ten yard scoring zone for each team on opposing ends of the field. The distances on the playing field is marked off in five yard increments with numbers marked on each ten yard line. The line numbers decrease from the 50 yard line at the center of the field, thus marking the distance to the goal line at any point in the field.

* The goal posts are raised at each end of the playing surface. These consist of two upright poles and a cross bar set at ten feet in height. The uprights are raised at either 222 inches apart for professional level skill players or 280 inches distant when the skill level is still growing.

* Near the 50 yard line, there are one yard hash marks to make it easier to place the ball in the middle of the field for beginning of play. The field itself is deemed to be flat, but is commonly created with a slight elevation or crown to the center of the field. This allows any water to drain off the field--particularly useful in outdoor playing fields. Originally, all football fields were covered with well-maintained and hardy grass, but many stadiums now have incorporated Astro-turf or similar materials to cover the playing surface.

* The object of the game is to score the most points during the game period by any of various mechanisms. The point count can be made by a six point touchdown, a three point field goal or rarely, a two point safety. After a touchdown, the successful team can try for an additional Point After Touchdown or a two point conversion.

* Points are scored when a player carries the football into the end zone of the opposing team, when the ball is thrown to a player within the end zone (a forward pass), when the ball is kicked between the goal posts but over the crossbar by a player. The ball can be place kicked or drop kicked.

The popularity of football in Canada and the United States is undeniable, both at the collegiate and professional levels. Professional players earn some of the highest compensation packages of any sports figures and star college players are recruited actively to move into the professional ranks.

Modernization of after school sports programs - Sports - Football

These days it is easier than ever for kids to get into trouble after school. Most two parent households are now in a situation where both parents work. Without sufficient supervision at home, it is easy to see how kids can get into mischief. One of the ways that parents can substitute some needed adult supervision is by enrolling their child into an after school program. After school programs are very popular these days and their popularity continues to rise. As are many school programs, these are changing with the times. Now there are after school programs for kids of all ages from elementary school right through high school.

Elementary school programs often focus more on developing the childrens scholastic abilities. Programs for older kids often focus on sports like football and basketball. There are some schools who offer programs on computers where kids can get some extra productive time on one instead of just being glued to a video game.

Some of these programs are really helping kids get ahead. Take a kid who has a keen interest in football. During the off season, he can use the computer to create a Buffalo Bills football fan blog that allows him to voice his opinion about moves the team has been making and their general prospects for the upcoming season. The student then benefits both scholastically as well as physically from his love for the sport.

Once these high school students graduate and head off to college, they are going to need excellent computer skills to be able to utilize the resources of the university. Therefore, it only makes sense that these after school programs focus on helping parents accomplish that important goal. It is hard enough to get your kids to do their homework. Why not put them in a setting where it is fun for them to learn. It makes sense to try to make the learning process as enjoyable as possible for the student. If done correctly, they will hone their skills without ever realizing the amount of work they are doing.

As the information age expands, we should expand our after school programs to include activities that will develop the required skills of tomorrow. Using computers to do this seems like the perfect fit. Students should exercise their minds just as they should exercise their bodies. Isnt that the whole point behind schools?

Online Football Blogs - Sports - Football

With today's technology, the Internet has made it easier for Football die-hards to talk about their beloved game through football blogs. Blogs have become a very popular trend. Everyday Joes can blog about football, basketball, their mothers cooking, and dance recitals. I have even seen blogs that are written in a horses perspective. Football blogs are very popular and you can find blogs on college, high school, pro, or semi pro football.

When searching for a football blog you might be looking for one of two things, information or intelligent conversation. Like many things found on the web, not everything is 100% correct. A blog is a personal diary/information of what is happening in someones life, the world, or on the web. Blogs allow the reader to read someones personal information, sometimes a blog will allow for comments and communication with other blog readers.

Football blogs can be about anything from A Day in the Life of a College Football Star to I Love the Dallas Cowboys. Searching for a football blog can be tricky. It will more than likely take a lot of time ready and analyzing the publisher to see if the information the present is both knowledgeable and informative. Once you have found a football blog, make sure there are other blog readers that share your views. If the Author is writing to people who only like a 3/4 defense and you want information about a 4/3 defense you might not find it there. The same is true if you are reading a football blog tailored to College Football and you want information on Arena Football.

With everything on the Internet, have fun and enjoy someone else knowledge and opinion. Make sure and remember that there is a real person siting behind the words with real feelings and opinions. Blogs can be fun, enjoyable, and very informative. But, blogs can also be hurtful and full of false information.

A History of Leather Football Helmets - Sports - Football

Football helmets were widely disputed upon their introduction. Many simply viewed them as a nuisance, they made their heads sweat, they shifted from side to side, and they didnt help much. It wasnt until the later 1930s that people began to get serious; games between 1890-1950 are usually shown with some people wearing helmets and some not. It was personal preference. But in 1939 college leagues voted to make helmets mandatory and in 1943 the NFL joined them. Wikipedia shows that the last player to play in a game without a helmet was probably Dick Plasman of the Chicago Bears. There is a picture of him in 1940 after a Washington Redskins victory without a helmet on.

College halfback, George Barclay designed a leather helmet or head harness with three heavy leather straps. Created by a harness maker, his helmet was made to prevent the deformation of the ear or cauliflower ear which he believed came from the roughhousing of playing bareheaded. Helmets gained padding and shape from the 1920s through the 1940s, especially when Vern McMillan introduced the facemask. Fastened in the 1930s, it was a simple rubber-covered wire mask attached to the front of the leather helmet in an effort to prevent broken noses and teeth.

Teams played for years in unadorned helmets as they struggled for the right fit, but as school spirit raged and rivalries grew, colleges and high schools began to hand paint their helmets to show team spirit. Initially, only colors were used, their headgear painted as a marker for quarterbacks when searching to find their receiver. In 1948 Fred Gehrke shook things up when he introduced the first logo, painting a proud design of the Rams on the side of his teams helmets.

Robert Zuppke, an innovative Illinois coach, reinvented the leather helmet in 1917, transferring the simplicity of pads to the art of suspension. He used straps of fabric to form a pattern inside the helmet, cradling the skull, while absorbing and distributing the impact instead of simply offering an extra layer of protection. It was a breakthrough in football, providing ventilation and introducing Rawlings and Spalding to the love of the game.

Once created, the teams or schools can easily be downloaded into the Xbox 360 and the PS3 versions of NCAA Football 2010. It can be used at Dynasty, Play Now, and Online Dynasty.

The NCAA Football 10 covers are exciting enough. The Xbox 360 cover is graced by Michael Crabtree, formerly form Texas Tech University. He is a highly-acclaimed football player who grabbed the Biletnikoff and Paul Warfield Awards twice. He led Texas Tech in the race for BCS National Championship in 2008 as he showed his powers as a wide receiver.

Brian Johnson of the University of Utah is found in the cover of PS3. Johnson led the Utah Utes undefeated victory in the NCAA Division I team in 2008 with a 12-0 record at the 2009 Sugar Bowl.

The PSP version, on the other hand, shows the former quarterback of the University of Southern California, Mark Sanchez. Sanchez was the key player who led the Trojans in an almost perfect 12-1 season, nearly making it to the 2008 BCS National Championships. He was also the Most Valuable Offensive Player during the 2009 Rose Bowl.

The PS2 cover showcases Brian Orakpo, a first-team All American and was the Associated Press Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. Orakpo won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Lombardi Award and the Ted Hendricks Award.

Youth Football Coaching Mistakes - Sports - Football

What are the biggest mistakes you can make when coaching youth football? Coaching youth football can be a very rewarding activity, but unless you and your players are on the same page, you will find that you are shortly going to be running into a number of problems. When it comes to teaching sportsmanship and athletic ability, you'll find that you are in a place to make a huge impact your players' lives, but are you doing well with it? Check out some of the common coaching mistakes that you are likely to run into.

Remember that you are a football coach and not a conditioning coach. Of course you have to condition your kids, and this is especially important in the first weeks of practice before the season starts. However, if you only focus on conditioning your kids will lose interest, become tired out and they won't get better at playing the sport. Limit your conditioning drills to 25-30% of your total practice time or less. Fill the rest of your time with actual football drills, scrimmages and other important areas you need to cover.

A second trap that coaches fall into is applying the same routines and holding the same expectations for kids of all ages. Kids are still developing physically, mentally and emotionally and will be capable of different things at different ages. Therefore you can't run a practice for preteens the same as you would a practice for seniors in high school. You have to remember how old the kids are that you're working with and you have to adjust your strategies and your mindset appropriately.

Pack your practices tight. Too many coaches for youth football simply go on the field and run their players through a haphazard type of training. Good planning will help you make the most out of your time and that of the kids. Remember that you should have a plan for the practice before you walk on the field and the minute the kids are in uniform, they can expect to get started and keep going until practice is out. The more you plan, and the more you can direct them towards what they need to do, the more focused they are going to be and the better practice is going to go.

When it comes to coaching youth football, don't forget that you're allowed to look things up, research the topic, read books and guides and so on. There is a ton of information out there concerning youth football coaching, so if you need any help, you should absolutely seek out those sources to help you.

3 Steps on How to Get a Football Scholarship - Sports

Imagine being a freshman in high school, watching John Elway throwing TD's and dreaming about what could be. With come from behind WINS and TD passes all over the field, Elway was truly amazing. I was in love with Elway and how he played the game. He peaks my curiosity enough for me to do some homework on him, and I find out he went to Stanford University. I was fired up, I made a life changing decision, "I was going to play quarterback at Stanford University." Now, keep in mind, at the time, I am about 5'10", and I live in Fargo, ND. Nothing against Fargo, but ice covered ground is an everyday occurrence around there.... how am I going to go from this unknown football market to QB U? Does this sound far fetched?Well, that is where my story comes in, and I want to share it with you so that you too can make your collegiate dreams a reality. I pulled out some paper, since computers were limited, and wrote down my goal:I am going to Stanford University with a full-ride schola rship to play football. Then I read that GOAL every night before I went to bed, and I would fall asleep visualizing myself playing at Stanford. I knew it was going to happen I just didn't know how.It happened, my mom calls and says, "Hey Chris, the news was on, and I heard that Elway will be in Stanford doing a football camp for QBs. Do you want to go?"I said, "Of course!" I made it to Stanford the summer between my sophomore and junior year. WOW, was I in for an awakening and an inspiration. The talent at the camp was amazing, and it was a tremendous confidence booster for me because it proved to me that I could compete with the big boys around the country.I was so inspired that when I got back home I rewrote some of my goals and prepared for my junior year.We won the North Dakota State ChampionshipWe had back to back undefeated seasonsI am First Team All-ConferenceAgain, I would read these goals every night before I went to bed, and I would visualize myself achieving my goa ls. At Fargo South, I had a tremendous supporting cast and I was able to achieve my goals thanks the the teams hard work but most importantly I was extremely dedicated to achieving my goals. After my junior season, I put together a highlight video, along with my athletic resume and transcript, and I began to send this packet of information to coaches all over the country.. Shortly thereafter, I started to get letters and questionnaires from schools. I filled out the questionnaires and sent them back to the schools. Nebraska, Minnesota and Stanford were the three schools I went to for their football camp. This was an amazing experience for me, and it opened a TON of doors for my future. After these camps, I had created scholarship opportunities at all 3 of these schools and many others. At the start of my senior year, I created yet another batch of videos for coaches from around the country. I was getting good reviews from coaches and I was getting my desired response or "offi cial recruiting visit." And you could have guessed, my first visit was to Stanford. Coach Dennis Green offered me a Scholarship to attend Stanford, I said, "YES!!!" Inside I was SCREAMING with EXCITEMENT from my scholarship offer to Stanford University, and I ended up at Stanford playing football and they picked up the check. This is my story and a very brief version without the proper ending. I would like to tell you more about how to get a football scholarship of your own because if this skinny kid from Fargo North Dakota can do it I know that I can help many others do the same. My story has more to it and I want to share it with you and I want to help you learn more about How to Get A Football Scholarship. Visit our footballscholarshipsecrets.com page for 20 free videos on how to get a football scholarshipRemember these 3 things I did and hopefully they will help you:1. Have written goals2. Go to camp at the schools you would like to attend and see if they are interested3 . Make a highlight video and send it out to college coachesI wish I could go back and do it all over again but I can't so I want to pay it forward and help other players out there with their dream of playing sports in college by teaching you How to Get A Football Scholarship.

College Football: Passing for Scholarships - Sports - Football

One of the most popular games in the United States today is known as American football, which has its origins in college football. Many students follow the latest college football news and participate in college football polls. Many likewise participate in try outs for a chance to play in college teams. There are many terms and expressions in football vernacular used in discussions and commentaries. A Hail Mary pass or Hail Mary play is an interesting term in American football. It was made famous due to the expression "Hail Mary" being used by the press to describe game winning touchdown passes made by Roger Staubach to Drew Pearson, during the 1975 wild card playoff. It is now often used to refer to any forward pass executed as a wild shot, which only has a small chance of success. The term is also used for any forward pass thrown covering a significant length of the field toward the end of a game.High school soccer players need to be aware that the standard of play at col lege level is very high. Fantasy Football and Other Sport Trophies - Sports

Trophies have come to symbolize recognition of a job well done. All sports are competitive and while we emphasize that winning isn't everything, the winning team that worked so hard to achieve that goal should receive accolades. Often times trophies are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners and some go as far as 5th. It is nice to receive a trophy in one of those categories and if you don't receive one, to aspire to that for the next season.

Fantasy football has become a national past time every fall and the giving of a trophy to the winner for the season has become a coveted prize. The trophy can be as simple as a beer mug with the year and date, or as elaborate as a loving cup engraved with a spots motif logo and includes names, dates, and achievements. Football and Soccer are sometimes one in the same. In England, football is soccer. There has been debate on whether American Football should be called handball because soccer is played with the feet and football with the hands. But whatever you call it, Soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world and among one of the most sought after trophies.

Soccer was once only majorly popular overseas, but in early 80's started to make its way to high schools in America. By the 90's kids everywhere as little as 4 years old were playing soccer on soccer teams. Today you would be hard pressed to find a kid who wasn't playing soccer or didn't at least know about it.

Famous soccer stars such as David Beckham created lots of buzz around the sport and is one of the most popular with soccer players everywhere with children aspiring to be him. But what game would be complete with a trophy. Football Soccer trophies range from gold cups to gold players on a stand kicking or head butting a ball. The best part of a trophy, especially for kids, is to see your name engraved on it with your standing. Often times if you play each year you can watch your trophy grow or standings change as you place your trophy on your shelf.

Ceremonies are held where team mates get to sit with each other's family and friends and see each other dressed in something other than their uniform. It is a time to give praise to the teams as a whole, recognize coaches and supporters and reward the best players. There are also trophies to reward other aspects of a player, other than being the best scorer. There is most valuable player, or most improved player. A trophy can be awarded for anything well done and for our best effort. The best award anyone can receive is for helping a team do its best!

The Costs of a Military School - Education

One of the complaints parents make about the cost of their child's education is the addon. The school may charge X dollars a month or semester but that often does not include the extras. What every parent wants to know is the total cost of their child's education. And with a military school education, like most schools, there are extras. The uniform is the obvious one. Students dress in the school's military uniform and a parent could spend $1000 on clothing items alone. But that doesn't include special gear for outdoor activities like rock climbing or sailing. Then if your child joins the school band, a clarinet or trumpet may find their way on to your credit card. But to be exact you will need to consult the school you are considering for your child. Remember that fees change and often on an annual basis. At present you could pay about $4000 a month for the basic education and accommodation at a military school. Some schools which offer more activities will charge more, oth ers less. Now if that amount of money seems expensive, you need to consider two things. What are you getting for your money? And how much is too much for the preparation of a successful career?A wealthy parent may not be fazed by the costs and a less well-off parent can investigate scholarships, student loans and part payment schemes. But the main issue here is the content of the course. A military school gives top priority to the academic success of its students. They provide a first class curriculum and employ experienced, motivated and highly qualified teachers. The school requires students to study after lessons and this study activity is supervised. Parents who want their child to be pushed or enthused about their academic studies will get the best possible service in a military school. There is plenty of bang for your buck.If you want to make a comparison about costs, figure how much it will cost you to feed, clothe and accommodate your child should they be living at hom e during their high school years. Remember that the fee at a military school includes full board and accommodation. If living on campus, your teen will not be raiding your fridge or burning your power bills as they spend hours online. And don't forget the time factor. With your teen living at home, how much time will you spend driving them to ballet or football and attending performances and games? There is much less parenting time involved with your child in a military school. To find a successful career may require a good college degree or post graduate qualifications. A military school has an excellent reputation for getting the best out of their students with a college entry highly likely and, should it be of interest, an entrance into the military for one of its many career options. The cost is relative. You should consider what you are getting for the price. As somebody once said, "If you want the best, you'll have to pay for it".If you're looking to find more information about military school and its environment, do check out Military Schools for Boys. Fantasy Football Logo - Sports - Fantasy Sports

You want your team to be represented well and choosing the right fantasy football logo can be more important than you think. We're all a bit superstitious every now and then when it comes to fantasy football and the logo that is chosen to represent our team. We pick our team logo at the beginning of the season and hope that it's the lucky logo to take us to the title game.Whether it be a standard helmet with a lightning bolt through it or a picture of you when you were 16 and sported a mean mullet, either way a good fantasy football logo can be a jinx or a good luck charm. There are many things to consider when choosing the right logo. Color, style, size and relevancy are all factors when finding a logo that matches you and your team's style. Most online leagues have a standard set of fantasy football logos for you to choose from which are mostly boring little helmets with some sort of silly design on them. These are good if you've been using the same one for years and have h ad success with it. Otherwise, it's time to keep up with the ever changing world of technology and get a little creative with it.A common practice these days is to find a funny picture that can express your style and attitude. David Hasselhoff is a popular choice due to its novelty, and let's be honest, who wouldn't want to play fantasy football with the Hoffer at your side each Sunday.Another popular option is posting a logo that makes fun of your opponents in one way or another. Old high school pictures work well and can be scanned in fairly easily. Use your imagination and dig up some good artwork that will keep things entertaining and keep sportsmanship competitive for the entire year.Don't worry if you start your season off 0-4, an easy fix to the problem could be a simple changing of the guard. A good rule of thumb is after 4 losses, it's time to change out your logo and see if your luck changes. Don't be afraid that you're going to hurt the Hoffer's feelings; he's pre tty egotistical and most likely doesn't even like you. When picking the best fantasy football logo for your team make sure it is fun, unique and effective. It's always good to have something the league gets a laugh out of and don't feel like it's set in stone. Switch it out or keep it for the year if it's working well. Regardless if your personal preference includes a guy in a Speedo or a hot girl in a bikini, if the end result is a winning record, roll with it.

Top five football movies - Entertainment - Movies

Today is a banner day in Big Chico's house. My son Lil' Chico came home last night from football practice and told me he is now the STARTING LINEBACKER FOR HIS FOOTBALL TEAM! That is right, my boy is a butt kicking, running back hitting, snot bubbler giving, mean green machine (the colors of his team are green). I'm so proud of the work he has done to achieve this goal that I'm going to honor his achievement by listing the top five football movies of all time. So lets shout HAZZA for Lil' Chico's achievement and get on with the list.5. Brian's SongCast: James Caan, Billy Dee Williams, Jack Warden, Bernie Casey, Shelley FabaresPlot: Legendary actors James Caan and Billy Dee Williams give amazing performances inspired by real-life athletes in Brian's Song. When Gale Sayers arrives to play for The Chicago Bears, he finds an over-achieving running back Brian Piccolo standing in his way. Through a series on injuries and life altering events the two adversaries form an unlikely friendship that transcends football, race and the human spirit. There's a whole lot you could say about this movie, but I think when you look at what made this movie so great, was the relationship between James Caan and Billy Dee Williams. It's a rare thing for men to be portrayed on the silver screen with such caring for each other and that made the whole movie for me. James Caan is one of my favorite actors. The only thing truly wrong with this movie is they were both on the CHICAGO BEARS, and being A PACKERS fan it was hard to watch a movie with the BEARS in it.4. Longest YardCast: Burt Reynolds, Eddie Albert, Ed LauterPlot:Ex-football star Paul Crewe (Burt Reynolds) ends up in a prison run by sadistic sports-nutWarden Hazen (Eddie Albert). Strong-armed into forming an inmate football team, Crewe manages to instill an esprit de corps previously lacking in the prisoners' lives. They now have the chance to beat the guards' football team, headed by the hissable Capt. Knauer ( Ed Lauter). Hazen orders Crewe to throw the match, otherwise Crewe will never get the pardon he's been promised. The football game that follows consumes nearly a third of the picture.Burt Reynolds. Need I say more? In the 70's Reynolds was a god amongst men. Women wanted him and all men wanted to be him. The Longest yard is one of the movies that cemented Reynolds as a 70's icon. His portrayal as Paul Crewe, a washed up quarterback, was spot on. This movie showed the trappings that athletes can fall into, gambling, arrogance, and entitlement. Reynolds encompassed all of them for this role. On a side note, this movie also had the greatest linebacker in the history of the NFL in it, former Green Bay Packer "Ray Nitschke" playing a small role as, of course, a football player.3. The ProgramCast: Craig Sheffer, Halle Berry, James Caan, Kristy Swanson, Omar Epps Plot:Eastern State University isn't particularly notable for anything except its football program. Lately, even that has n't been doing too well, and the athletic staff are led by Coach Winters (James Caan) are under considerable pressure by the administration and alumni to bring in a winning season. To do that, he has to recruit some able, promising young players out of high school. It's not too surprising to learn that he will do almost anything to get these kids, and it's even less surprising that, as long as they keep producing on the field, he and the college will overlook almost any obnoxious behavior the boys can perpetrate to the limit of their ability.Another James Caan classic, this movie showed the intensity of being in a high profile college football program. It deals with steroid use, cheating, illiteracy, competiveness, and the pressure of being a collage athlete. James Cann has to deal with all these issues as head coach of "The Program".2. North Dallas FortyCast: Nick Nolte, Mac Davis, Charles Durning, Dayle Haddon, Bo Svenson, John MatuszakPlot:The film's setting is a 1970s er a professional football team based in Dallas, Texas named the North Dallas Bulls[1], which closely resembles the Dallas Cowboys. Nolte plays the aging wide receiver, Phillip Elliott, who is struggling to stay competitive and relies heavily on the use of painkillers. Backed up by quarterback Seth Maxwell, played by Davis, both players give insight into the drug, sex, and alcohol-fueled party atmosphere of teams of this era, all this happens under the watchful eye of iconic coach B. A. Quinlan, played by G.D. Spradlin. This is the original behind the scenes football movie. North Dallas Forty took a look at the NFL and it players beyond the field. Based off the semi autobiographical book by Peter Gent, North Dallas Forty shook the foundations of football at the time. Nick Nolte was in his prime as an actor and conveyed the struggle of age and staying completive in a young mans game beautifully. I would highly suggest seeing this movie.1. Any Given SundayCast: Aaron Eckhart, Al P acino, Ann-Margret, Bill Bellamy, Cameron Diaz, Charlton Heston, Dennis Quaid, Elizabeth Berkley, James Woods, Jamie Foxx, Jim Caviezel, LL Cool J, Lauren Holly, Lawrence Taylor, Matthew Modine Plot:Consistent with most Al Pacino performances, what you see is only a small taste of what you're about to get. As Coach Tony D'Amato, Pacino is presented with a breathe of fresh air from a third string player (Jamie Foxx) that makes him re-evaluate his coaching methods and his perspective on life. This gritty tale is captured in a realistic, powerful way through the direction of the legendary Oliver Stone.Being in the same vain as North Dallas Forty, Oliver Stone takes an inside look at the seedy side of football. This movie was the breakout role for Jamie Foxx. Al Pacino is great as the old war horse coach that anchored the movie, while Foxx flourishes as the brash young quarterback that just didn't get the concept of a team. With all the news we hear about football players being in trouble, this movie has more of a documentary feel then a fictional movie. Here are some honorable mentions:All The Right MovesLast Boy Scout, TheNecessary RoughnessVarsity BluesWildcatsRadioFriday Night LightsAnd please always and forever remember Brett Farve is a lying media whore, who dosn't deserve our time of day. So say's a bitter PACKER FAN!

College Football Pick - The Evolution of a Professional Bettor! - Entertainment

Making a college football pick is a bit different from betting for professional leagues. Although this also involves huge sums of money, it is trickier than the professional leagues due to the different motivations of these players and teams. It definitely requires more analysis.

You often see jam-packed sports arenas and bleachers whenever a college football team is playing. They are filled with school team spirit and the mere fact that these college football players will soon be the big starts in the major leagues give everyone enough reason to crowd these places and join the game as spectators and now as active bettors.

In reality, only a little over 10% of the total number of players from these colleges will make it to NFL or choose to be in NFL. And unlike NFL players, they do not get paid by playing football. Most of them are in scholarship grants and are required to play a particular sport. They have their studies and school homework to think of aside from game tactics and practices. They have other activities beyond their sports and most of them have experienced over-fatigued over these hectic schedules. The level of competition is way higher than their high school days and some of them may feel a little out of focus especially during their second and third year of playing.

In other words, there are a lot of factors affecting the results of a college football game. The players have different motivations and are getting various pressure points from family, school, friends and agents. Wagering or making a college football pick can be a little complicated compared to professional football where the main motivation is fame and fortune. To look at different aspects of college football will require a considerable amount of time from you. You need to dig deeper and know more about the teams if there are injuries, internal conflicts or competitions, management problems and the like. College football has a lot of drama so you better be at the front line to get all these inside news so you can predict the outcomes of each game better. Better yet, build up trust with some insiders so you know what you are really up against.

But there are other ways to be a bettor even without these time-consuming analyses. You can purchase picks online through betting service centers. Choosing the best agency to represent your bets should be well-thought out. Getting advice from senior bettors that you may come across online through forums may give you inkling at the service quality, efficiency and reliability of different agencies.

As you put your bets, you shouldn't be attached to any teams since this is all but a game and a professional business deal. Making an excellent college football pick depends on analyses of the game and player profiles and not by affiliation. Whether you were once part of one particular NCAA team, this shouldn't come in between a non-partisan, pure bettor's game. And as you go bet more frequently and able to establish your own system of betting, you can eventually consider yourself as a professional sports bettor.
