Understanding the Need for Natural Treatment for High Blood Pressure - Health

High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) it has been argued by at least one Medical Practitioner is a disease caused by and large by the simple demands of modern living. OK I'll go along with that but maybe this is just slightly too simplistic a definition. OK so we all feel our blood pressure rise and when we run for a bus or a train or when our favourite football team win (or worse lose) but what are the contributory factors that make up this natural phenomenon.

What are these factors? What is it about our modern day lives and the pressures and stresses caused that have resulted in this condition?

Well things are never that simple but when you stop to think about how our lives are made up, what we do, we actually try and force more into our everyday lives than is actually necessary. Such is life.

That having been said, what exactly are these factors that have such an effect on our every day lives and our health?

They include some of the following:

* The way we cope with the stress of modern day living. How do you react when you have waited for five minutes in the Supermarket checkout queue only to be told it is closing!

* Our social and emotional life. Is life just one constant round of running after one event after another whether this is chasing the family from one event or another or just racing around from one school or college to another?

* Our home and family life. Is it happy or stressed? Do you or your partner get on? Linked of course to this is one of the less talked about but funnily enough one of the more keenly queried side effects of high blood pressure and that is impotence. Joking apart has your life style and your high blood pressure affected your sex life. As the eagles famously sang in their hit "life in the fast lane" - "she was too tired to fake it, he was too tired to make it......life in the fast lane"

* Our Personality type. Back to the old "do you threaten to rip the heads of parking wardens when you get a ticket?"

* Our exercise habits. How much of a couch potato are you? Is your only exercise in life either walking from the car to the front door or reaching for the TV remote?

* Our weight. Do you have the ability to say no when offered that fourth portion of food?

* The ability to relax. Can you relax? Are you the type that can only relax after the fourth whisky or Gin?

* Our sleep patterns. Again can you? Lack of sleep is one of the major causes of disharmony in life today and most of us operate the sort of sleep deficit that would give most of us well.......heart failure.

* Vitamin and Mineral intake. Is your only mineral intake a Coke mid morning or last thing at night? Have you ever considered what might actually make up the food we eat?

* The tendency for use and misuse of additive substances such as Alcohol and Tobacco, Caffeine, and Drugs. Yes non of us do drugs anymore, we are all clean.......woops....there goes the neighbourhood under the weight of the bottles and packets as the Community Refuse truck drives down the road!

When you actually consider only a fraction of the above is it any wonder why not only is their a large proportion of us who suffer from High Blood Pressure (he says downing another coffee) but there is an even larger number of folks out there who suffer from High Blood Pressure and don't even know it yet!

Make a few changes to your lifestyle habits above and you will see slowly but surely changes to your health and welfare. Not overnight and maybe not enough to remove the need for some form of medication or drug therapy but enough that may give your Health Practitioner or Doctor the hope that you may be on the way to beating this condition or at least managing it responsibly.

Trophies Faq: School And Sports Trophies Ideas - Other

* What are some creative ideas for awarding a student besides academic awards?

You can award your students with creative awards such as trophies, plaques, salvers, and cups. These tokens of appreciation are another alternative to academic recognition. This type of recognition is displayable and "keepable." They can show the world their accomplishments by displaying these awards.

There are many more alternative to academic recognition, such as a certificate of appreciation. This kind of appreciation in written form is also displayable. It can be placed on a table or can hang on the wall.

* What are some good ways to recognize and award a school student?

There many ways in which you can recognize or award a school student. You can conduct a recognition program, in which you present some type of award the deserving students. In this program they would be called up and presented an award on stage.

Another option is the school endorsement. A student with impressive academic performance can be endorsed by a school as a form of recommendation to another school with more complete facilities. In this way students with a great desire to learn are given an opportunity to gain more knowledge.

A student who performs well in contests and academic quizzes or bees can also be awarded on the air by radio or television. This is related to the recognition program but is more prestigious because more people will see it.

* How can I display my awards and trophies?

There are several ways you can display your awards and trophies. One way is to mount a display shelf onto the wall, high enough to be out of children's reach. This can also keep you from worrying that your trophies might be damaged by accident.

Today most people prefer display cases made of aluminum and glass that are sold commercially. Most display case manufacturers are advertising flexible collector display cabinets suitable for displays of awards and trophies. These are made of an aluminum frame, with sliding glass doors and shelves for the display of your trophies.

The advantage of this type of display case is that your collection is surrounded by a glass and metal frame, which prevents accidents and keeps it from gathering dust. Also, the sliding glass and finger pulls allow easy access to your trophies and awards if they need cleaning.

* What kinds of display cases are used for sports memorabilia?

There are several display cases suited for a collector's sports memorabilia. All sports enthusiasts are looking for display cases that are easy to use to protect their collection from dust and other harmful elements. Football fanatics, for instance, seem to prefer their display cases to be made with the high-quality wood. An acrylic lid on the display case prevents their sports memorabilia from gathering dust and at the same time showcases their collection from any angle they want it to be viewed.

Basketball enthusiasts, like football fans, want to protect their memorabilia of basketball caps and jerseys signed by their favourite superstars. Hand-made acrylic cases with a removable acrylic lid are convenient if the collector also wants to clean his memorabilia from time to time.

NASCAR or car racing fanatics prefer die-cast metals to be the display cases of their memorabilia. Woods tends to be attacked by termites, and so their collection would be ruined. Thus the die-cast base is the best and most appropriate one for their sports memorabilia.

Nebraska Football Tickets Allow Fans To See The Long Road Back To The Top - Sports

Nebraska football tickets have been impossible to find for games in Lincoln for decades. The Cornhuskers are beloved by their home state, and every game they play is a big-time event. The 'Huskers were THE dominant team in college football in the mid-1990's, but a few seasons of "struggle" led to the dismissal of Frank Solich, the successor to the legendary Tom Osborne. Below we'll take a look at how Nebraska is doing in their march back to the top of college football.

New Coach

Bill Callahan took over the program after a mercurial rise and fall with the Oakland Raiders. He led the Raiders to the Super Bowl after the 2002 season, but completely lost the team the following year, a season in which his players openly questioned his competence, and was fired following the 2003 season.

Callahan came to Nebraska with a set of beliefs that were about as foreign to Nebraska football lovers as beliefs can get. Nebraska was always known for their powerful zone running/option offense, and it was a tradition as rich as the school colors. Callahan brought his West Coast Offense with him to Lincoln, and set about rebuilding the program in his mold.

Fans were nervous to say the least, and Nebraska football tickets were never more of a curiosity than during the 2004 season. As was expected by many, the team didn't really have the players to fit Callahan's system yet, and the Cornhuskers struggled to finish 5-6. It was Nebraska's first losing season since 1961, and this result did not sit well with fans.

However, the team improved the following season, and finished 8-4. The Cornhuskers topped off their season of improvement with a dramatic win over Michigan in the Alamo Bowl. That led to high expectations for the 2006 season.

Another Progressive Step

The Cornhuskers came into the 2006 season ready to continue their climb, and fans got an early measuring stick when the team faced USC on the road. Nebraska lost, 28-10, but it was a competitive game and showed that Nebraska had indeed been getting better. The 'Huskers rolled through their next few games, but fell in a close game to Texas and then in another nail-biter to Oklahoma State. As of this writing, the game in Stillwater was their last loss.

Overall, the 'Huskers finished 9-3 in the regular season and won the Big 12 North division to earn a spot in the Big 12 Championship game against Oklahoma. If Nebraska wins that game, they'll be back in the BCS with a chance to win 11 games. That equals a fast turnaround for a team that appeared to hit rock bottom only two seasons ago.

Where They Stand Now

If one looks at the Nebraska program with a big-picture perspective, it seems that Nebraska is on the way, but not all the way back to their level of dominance from recent seasons. They're starting to beat the teams they're expected to beat most of the time, but they're still looking for that first big, signature win that will clearly establish the Cornhuskers as "back."

Regardless of their progress, Nebraska football tickets are always going to be hard to find, but in coming years they could represent entrance to a team that's once again among the elite of college football.

Boise, Idaho - High Tech Center Close to Nature - Real Estate

Boise, Idaho is also known as the "City of Trees" for the extensive amount of trees in the area of the Boise River. The city has a population of over 200,000 and a metropolitan area population of over 600,000, and is the capital of Idaho. Boise is at an elevation of 2700 feet and is located in the Treasure Valley. The city is 64 square miles, leaving room for open areas in the city itself. Boise is a city not far from the countryside, and this can entail all sorts of advantages for Boise homes and real estate. Where else can you work for a hi-tech company and be minutes away from golf courses, skiing, nature trails and mountain climbing. Bogus Basin Mountain Resort has skiing and is located only 16 miles outside Boise. To make a point just how good these winter sports facilities are, Boise and the surrounding area are hosting the 2009 Winter Olympics.

Northwest Boise still has a lot of charm and is not very expensive. The North End is known for its larger artistic community. Warm Springs has beautiful Victorian homes built by wealthy and successful miners and businessmen about 100 years. And yes, there are actually hot springs in the area. Options for Boise Real Estate and Homes are quite varied. There are a number of different neighborhoods and also 11 trailer parks for Manufactured Homes. These homes can be had in some cases for less than $50,000 and can give a family a closer in-touch feeling with nature than living in an apartment. And it's easier to look out the window and check that the kids are happily playing. One nice trailer park is called Clover Leaf, which is South of the river, on the near East Side, only a short drive on Rte. 20 into downtown.

Boise is the headquarters of Idaho Power, Micron Technology, Washington Group International, and WinCo Foods. Hewlett-Packard has a large complex involved in making scanners and printers. Other high-tech employers include Micron, Microsoft, ClickBank, and PayTrack.

The Morrison-Knudsen Nature Center offers wildlife exhibits, adjacent to Municipal Park. Golf courses in the Boise area include the Boise Ranch Golf course in Boise itself, and the Banbury Golf Course in nearby Eagle, Idaho. Southwest Boise contains sparsely populated neighborhoods. Many of these sport larger acre sized plots and even pastures. The Boise State University campus is home to Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts, which has fine arts performances and Bronco Stadium a 30,000 seat football stadium where the school teams play. The World Center for Birds of Prey is located just outside city limits, and is a key part of the re-establishment of the Peregrine falcon and is also breeding other endangered species.

BODO (Boise Downtown) is a new development being constructed to revitalize the downtown with new residential and business buildings, and a more central shopping area. Already restaurants, boutiques and other retail stores are giving the area a nice gentrified feeling. Transportation in the area is provided by Valley Ride and the Boise Urban Stages (BUS), while commercial flights fly to Boise Airport, which has recently been expanded.

Ticket to Ride successfully completes inaugural School Trip - Sports

Ticket to Ride successfully completes inaugural School Trip

Ticket to Ride have just completed their inaugural School Surf Trip to Portugal after taking 12 boys and 3 staff from Sherborne School, Dorset, on a dream 1 week surfing holiday to their surf camp in Ericeira, Portugal.

After a short flight out to Lisbon and a quick 45 minute transfer to the surf-camp, a self contained haven with on-site private training grounds, the boys and staff settled into their bungalows a stone's throw from the beach and some of Europe's best waves. With a buffet breakfast and three course supper laid on for them each day it was time to kick back and enjoy the surfing lifestyle. With Ticket to Ride director Linley Lewis at the helm, and under the guidance of one of Portugal's top surf schools, the boys were well set to take advantage of the idyllic surroundings and reap the rewards of the surfing lifestyle. "This is the perfect location for a school trip; a lively, colourful and vibrant atmosphere yet safe, contained and hassle free!" said Art Teacher Ms Clare Gomm.

The boys took to the water with enthusiasm and enjoyed twice daily surf lessons. Starting in the camp's private on-site training grounds, the boys learnt the basics of the "pop" as well as vital Ocean Safety skills and the art of wave and weather prediction. It was then a quick dash across the sand and into the waves where novices caught their first waves and the more experienced surfers stroked for the outside and experienced the rush of surfing one of Europe's premier surf breaks. "The instructors provided great tuition for all levels that made the surfing an even more enjoyable experience," commented Harry Cook of Sherborne School.

With a whole host of extra activities on offer out of the water there was never a dull moment. Beach football, volleyball and cricket were all popular options as well as an afternoon walk along the Ericeira coastline visiting the many surf spots that have their names etched in European surfing folklore, many of which the boys surfed on various afternoon "surfaris".

As ever with such trips there was strong evidence of building team spirit and the forging of new friendships with each day rounded off by a communal three-course supper and then various evening activities laid on by the ever-helpful TTRIde and Surf-camp staff. The trip finished in fine style with an evening meal in one of the rustic restaurants in this timeless fishing village leaving both staff and pupils with fond memories of a week well spent under blue skies by the beach.

School Housemaster Dr. Simon Tremewan stated "Our first school surf trip - and it's been an outstanding success. We've enjoyed excellent weather, food, accommodation and coaching. We owe Ticket to Ride a huge debt of gratitude for an excellent week in Portugal. Book us on for next year!"

Pittsburg Steelers Tickets - Football Of Champions - Entertainment

There is a distinct difference between Pittsburg Steelers tickets and tickets to an ordinary football game. The Steelers have long established themselves as a cut above the rest and football lovers and enthusiasts can be assured of a great game of football whenever they are on the field.

The Pittsburg Steelers are affiliated with the AFC North and the American Football Conference in the National Football League. They have often been referred to as one of the most successful teams in the NFL, winning five Super Bowls, six Conference championships and seventeen Division titles.

A Tradition Of Excellence

The Pittsburg Steelers founded in 1933, are one of the oldest teams in the NFL. During their initial years, the team merged with two other franchises in order to field a team. In 1944, the merged with the Chicago Cardinals and were known as the Card-Pitt, a team that has the infamous distinction of being the only team in franchise history to never have a winning game.

That would all change as time went on. In 1974, the Steelers had one of the best drafts on the NFL and Pittsburg Steelers tickets were a hot commodity. The team would become the first ever team in the NFL to win four Super Bowl titles in just six year. The luck of the team did dip however in the eighties, when the dream run of that dream draft finally ran out. However, the Steelers managed to pull themselves together enough to win the Super Bowl yet again in 2005. The Steelers currently have an overall record of 333-217.

Pop Culture And Beyond

The popularity of Pittsburg Steelers tickets is a simple reflection of the fact that the appeal of the Steelers extends far beyond the football field. The Steelers have appeared in a number of movies and television shows, with a 2002 independent movie showcasing the life of a Steelers fan. A number of Pittsburg Steelers tickets are picked up by high profile celebrities like Snoop Dogg, Adam Sandler, Michael Keaton and Seth Meyers.

The Steelers also have a number of memorable traditions. Perhaps the most striking is that of the Terrible Towel. This was a gimmick started by a broadcaster, who urged Steelers fans to wave gold dish towels during a game against the Baltimore Colts. The Steelers went on to win the game and the Terrible Towel craze caught on, with Steelers fans waving them at every game.

Today, what started as a gimmick has evolved into a charitable institution. Since 1996, the proceeds from the sales of these towels go to a school for the mentally disabled in Pittsburgh. The Steelers were also the first professional team to have a cheerleading squad, which they began in 1961. Today however, the team does not have a cheerleading squad as the current management feels they are pointless and can block the view of the actual game.

Steelers football is a great way to enjoy football at its very best, so get your Pittsburg Steelers tickets when they come to a city near you. You can order those tickets online as well, after ensuring that you are dealing with an authorized ticket vendor.

Football Fans Love The Hat Trick - Sports

As with any sport, soccer or football in the U.K has its elusive accomplishments that make individual players stand out from the average. The hat trick is an especially difficult standout performance and will definitely gain the successful performer a place in the record books.

Specifically the hat trick refers to scoring three goals in one game. The term originated in the game of cricket with the awarding of a hat to a bowler who managed to take three wickets. It has been utilized in soccer with several variations on the theme. While the normal hat trick designation is awarded for any player that makes three goals, it is considered a "flawless" hat trick if all three goals are scored in a single period of play and no other player has scored between them.

The "golden" or "perfect" hat trick takes a little more effort and expertise. To be awarded with the designation of "perfect" the three goals must be accomplished by making one goal with each foot and one from off the head of the player. While hats are not given in soccer it has become traditional for the game ball to be presented to the player that can successfully complete this maneuver. It should be noted that penalty shots are not counted towards the successful completion of a hat trick.

To date, the fastest hat trick was performed in 1964 at Victoria Park in Dingwall. In a fast paced game against Nairn County, Tommy Ross of the Ross County Football Conference succeeded in making three goals in a ninety second time period. Each league and conference maintains its own records of the hat trick as it is such an outstanding play accomplishment. In Premiership play, for instance, Robbie Fowler of Liverpool took only four and a half minutes to make their hat trick record against Arsenal in a 1994 game.

The World Cup competitions have twice seen players accomplish two hat tricks in the same game. In 1958 Just Fontaine succeeded in a double hat trick and Gerd Muller followed in the 1970 World Cup with his successful completion of this tricky maneuver. The Argentinean Gabriel Batistuta is renown for having scored the hat trick in two separate World Cup championships in both 1994 and 1998.

Besides showing top competitive skills by managing to complete the hat trick, the maneuver is also quite often the deciding factor in a team's victory. The hat trick maneuver is present in all levels of the sport from elementary school soccer games to the professional play in all leagues and conferences world-wide.

The hat trick is such an outstanding performance that individual hat trick successes have been filmed and released in video compilations of Great Moments in Sports. There is no better way to demonstrate the quality and skill of a player than through performing this feat. That soccer is a team effort at all times shows that not only the individual player but the entire team is performing at a high level of expertise.

The hat trick is so popular with enthusiasts that it has lent its name to soccer video games and online team management games. It has found its way into the names of game pitches like Oklahoma City's Hat Trick Indoor Soccer Arena. While the hat trick may not have originated in soccer, soccer has taken it over and made it their own.

Brian Westbrook 2002 Draft Day Picks

Brian Westbrook was born on September 2, 1979 in Fort Washington, Maryland. Although Westbrook is not the most skilled, biggest, or athletic player he has always used his drive and determination to make his way to the top of any level that he has ever competed at. For this reason, he is known as one of the most complete and versatile players in the entire football world. This is saying a lot when you take all of the great players into consideration.

Westbrook played high school football at DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland. Year in and year out DeMatha is a powerhouse in high school football and this held true during Westbrooks time at the school. Although he did not get a lot of attention from college recruiters, he did do enough to get a few looks from the next level.

After high school Westbrook took his game to Villanova University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Although he had to fight through several injuries while in college, he still managed to become one of the best players that this level has ever seen. He still holds the NCAA record for all purpose yards with 9,512. On top of all those yards Westbrook also scored 84 touchdowns during his time at Villanova. He finished off his college career by winning the Walton Payton Award which is given annually to the best player in NCAA Division I-AA.

Although Westbrook had a great college career NFL teams were hesitant to pick him in the 2002 NFL Draft due to his small size (58), injuries, and small college experience. But the Philadelphia Eagles decided to take a chance in the third round, and this ended up being a very good decision. In 2004 he finally got a chance to start a few games, and he did a great job by rushing for more than 800 yards. He followed this up with back to back seasons of 1,000 total yards or more in 2005 and 2006.

College Sports Recruiting Opportunities Help Girls Through Bad Economy - Sports

When contemplating strategies for getting financial help with colleges in such a dire economy, getting recruited to play college sports should be at the top of any student-athlete's list. Given that premise, in the environment that men's college football recruiting has created, girls rule, and mens football recruiting may be the best thing that ever happened to womens college recruiting.

How does mens football recruiting fit into the equation? A disproportionately large number of mens scholarships go to football (up to 85 per school). To equalize sports opportunities across both genders, colleges support a broad range of womens sports via scholarships. In fact, female athletes who start planning very early in high school may even be able to pick up a sport they have never competed in before, and find great athletic scholarship opportunities through the college recruiting process. And for those who worry that athletics will take the focus off of academics, fear not, as female athletes have even higher college graduation rates than female college students who dont compet e (Division 1 -71% vs. 64%, and Division 2 -64% vs. 51%--compiled from NCAA sources).

By the time girls get to high school, most know if they're athletically inclined, and they have usually narrowed in on one or two sports of choice. But reality sometimes intervenes. A female student-athlete may have picked a sport that is highly competitive and she doesnt make the team. She may not like the coaching staff or they may not like her. She may have an injury that prevents her from pursuing her sport of choice. She may be interested in other things like student government or theatre, which conflict with the timing of the sport season. Or she may just get burned out or bored with her sport. What should a committed student-athlete do if she can't pursue her favorite sport?

There are all kinds of interesting sports opportunities available to girls who are willing to learn about them. Scholarships are offered for women in 24 sports in Division 1 and Division 2. If these sports are not offered at the high school level, there are probably club or recreational teams available somewhere nearby. It may be fairly easy to establish oneself as a player because many of these sports don't necessarily get the press that more high profile sports like women's basketball or volleyball get, so it may be more of a struggle for college programs to recruit players.

Here's what the landscape looks like. For girls, the sports that are offered at a large percentage of colleges and offer a fair number of scholarships per school are:

Basketball Volleyball Cross country/track and field Soccer Tennis Softball Golf Swimming/Diving

Here are some sports that arent available in as many schools, but have plenty of scholarships to give at the schools that have programs:

Field Hockey Gymnastics Lacrosse Rowing Equestrian Ice Hockey

And here's a fairly long list of sports that are offered in fewer schools and with less scholarships per school but they still have scholarships to give. Coaches in these programs may have a harder time filling these spots so they might offer great opportunities as well:

Bowling Fencing Skiing Synchronized swim Water Polo Archery Badminton Rugby Squash Team Handball

I am the mother of boys, not girls, but I know a good sale when I see one. Colleges are serving up a double whammy right nowvery difficult to get accepted, even more difficult to figure out how to pay for it. Participating in college athletics may make a student-athlete more attractive to an admissions committee, and may result in a scholarship that will cover a large part of the cost. If I was the mother of a female student-athlete and my daughter were even moderately inclined toward athletics, but hadn't settled on one sport yet, or was shut out from the sport she loved for some reason, I would encourage her to expand her athletic horizons a little.

So go ahead, girls -- pick up a hockey stick (field or ice, any kind will do), a bow and arrow, a fencing foil, a bowling ball, or another sporting implement you haven't experienced before. Do a little research to see what schools offer scholarship programs for women in these sports. If these schools match your general criteria for a good college fit, you should pursue them. A few years of training and the world is wide open to you, if youre a dedicated female athlete.

Why buy Football Shirts Online - Sports

Football shirts are not just the most important piece of clothing for the football player. They are highly appreciated items for football fans as well. Actually people buy football jerseys for numerous different reasons: most of them because they simply want to have an item that represents their favorite team. Some others buy them because a football shirt can be a very cool and practical thing to wear.

There is a wide array of shops that sell football shirts today. There are online stores that trade and sell all possible jerseys, from all over the world. If you are in the US you can go online and buy a jersey of a European or Asian team; you will find the jersey of your favorite player, with his number and name on the back. In any case, if you know what you want, you can simply browse an e-shop and find it within minutes. It's simple and easy. If you opt for the real thing, football jerseys are of high quality. They are made the exact same way that the original ones, used by professional teams, are made. This is an extra advantage of buying shirts online: you have a wide range of products and qualities. If you want to buy an authentic one, you can visit the stores recommended by you r team and make sure that the shirt you will buy is truly worth its price.

Online football shirt shops carry a massive range of jerseys to be sold and they can offer you both original ones and replicas; some people cannot afford buying the real one. Or, in some cases, they just want to wear a shirt all the time and they don't want to spend huge money on that. It is surprising how many people have the authentic shirt hanging on their wall, but wear replicas, just because they are easy and affordable to replace.

Online stores allow you to search by the name of player, team, country and of course size. Most of them do not have only the shirt, but the full football kit, with shorts, knee and armbands, or whatever else represents a football team. They feature a huge selection of products in reasonable prices. You can visit them from the comfort of your home and choose the ones you want, with a few clicks. Some online stores give you the chance to customize the kit. If for instance you want to replace Kaka's name with yours, you can simply order a jersey with your name. You will have it in a couple of days.

Online shops offer solutions to local and amateur teams as well. If you are the coach or manager of a school team and you need football shirts you can go online and find the most reliable and affordable solution, that meets your needs and requirements.

This period, which is referred to as the Season Showdown Pre-Season, offers players three ways to earn extra credits for their school.

Firstly, all games you win vs. any CPU-controlled team will be credited to your schools record. Games you win versus any online opponent shall also be counted. Questions are generally historical during the pre-season but will include questions regarding the current season when the regular season opens.

Was the Worlds Most Famous Detective, Aston Villas First Celebrity Football Fan? - Sports - Soccer

Aston Villa has undoubtedly the most celebrity fans in Premier league football. In quantity and quality. Their A list celebs include Prince Edward future King of the U.K; and Hollywood superstar Tom Hanks But to prove my point I must first define what I mean by an Aston Villa fan. You do not have,to have visited the stadium to qualify. You just have to have stated in public. On T V,radio,or newspaper. That you support Aston Villa football club. With this in mind we can provide quite an impressive list. Unless you have the Pope or Barack Obama supporting your team you just cannot compete.

Here is my list of famous Vllla fans.Enough to form a first and a reserve team.

1 Prince. Edward. Future King of U.K. and Commonwealth.

2 Tom. Hanks. Oscar winning actor.

3 David. Cameron. Could be a future Prime Minister.

4 Mervin. King. Governor of the Bank of England.

5 Ozzie. Osborne. Local lad and heavy metal rock star.

6 Lee. Child. Best selling author. Always uses ex Villa players names, as characters in his books.

7 David. Bradley, Plays grumpy hogwarts caretaker. Argus. Filch.

8 Simon. Le Bon. Duran Duran rock star.

9 Ian. Lavender. Private. Pike in Dads army.

10 Nigel. Kennedy. Celebrity violinist.

11 Floella. Benjamin. Ex B.B.C. Play school T.V. presenter.

12 Ian. Bell. England and Warwickshire cricketer.

13 Ian. Duncan. Smith. Former Tory leader.14 Jane. Sixsmith. Former England and Great Britain hockey player.

15 Pauline. Mc Lynne. Plays Father Teds housekeeper Mrs Doyle.

16 Emma. Willis. MTV presenter.

17 Martin. Shaw. Actor starring in Judge. John. Deed.18 Emma. B. Radio 1 D.J.

19 Richie. Neville. Boy band FIVE.

20 Mark. Williams. Fast show comedy actor.

21 Oliver. Phelps. Plays George. Weasley. in all 6 Harry. Potter. films.

22 Geezer. Butler. Original Black Sabbath member.

Although you will not find them at Villa park for every home game, clutching a pie and a programme. they all have stated publicly that they are Villa fans, so we will just have to take their word for it.

But did Aston Villa have another even more famous fan. the very first fictional detective character. No not Hercule Poiret, or Tin Tin, but Sherlock Holmes. His creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a fascinating man, who lived a long and eventful life. One of ten children born into poverty, and with an alcoholic father. he did not have the best of starts in life. He trained to be a doctor, was a novelist and lifelong traveller, all round sportsman, popularising ski-ing in Switzerland. And once bowling out W.G. Grace at cricket. he stood for Parliament twice, made a fortune and squandered most of it promoting spiritualism.

So how might he have been a Villa supporter. Here is the evidence. In 1879 Arthur Conan Doyle was a poor medical student. And as part of his training he moved to Aston in Birmingham working as an assistant to Dr Reginald Ratcliffe Hoare at Clifton House on the Aston road in Birmingham. He was paid a salary of two pounds a month, and was responsible for making house calls and dispensing medicines. In fact he and Dr Hoare, got on so well he returned to help out in the surgery many times, after finishing his training. And no doubt supporting his beloved Aston villa at the weekends. (Incidentally Villa first entered the F.A. cup in the 1879/80 season)

In 1879 Aston Villa were still an amateur side, playing at the Wellington road ground in Perry Barr. Birmingham. It is possible that Conan Doyle, a keen sportsman, could have known Villa`s early founder members and fellow scotsmen, such as William McGregor, Archie Hunter; and George Ramsay.and perhaps agreed to watch a game, or even play for Villa.

Some of my critics might suggest that it was Conan Doyle who lived in Aston not Sherlock Holmes But Conan Doyle received many letters from members of the public asking him to solve criminal cases. Some addressed to him, but many simply addressed to Sherlock Holmes at his Baker street address. And as most fiction writers base their characters on aspects of their own personality. I think it is highly probable that Sherlock Holmes was Aston Villas first celebrity football fan.

Below is the evidence you can make your own judgement.

1 Lived within a hansom cab ride from Villa`s ground at the time.

2 He was a keen sportsman excelling at football, rugby and cricket at school.

3 Aston Villa at that time had a strong Scottish contingent.

4 Sherlock holmes was a Villa fan would make a great chant, ringing around Villa Park.

5.And finally, I am sure at the final game of the season. I am certain I saw a man in a deerstalker hat. sitting in the seat in front of me, puffing away contentedly on his meerschaum pipe, engrossed in the game. Was he or wasn`t he, I had to find out, so I tapped him on the shoulder, and nervously blurted out "are you Sherlock Holmes and are you a Villa fan." But just then the final whistle blew, he jumped up and disappeared into the departing crowd. So I will never know. But I am one hundred percent convinced that Sherlock Holmes was indeed Aston Villas first celebrity football fan.

Getting into Photography Schools - Education - College and University

Within the halls of a school dedicated to the study of photography, you'll be composing, snapping, and editing photographs in a blaze of artistic bliss. But as satisfying as this creative process can be for the budding photographer, it doesn't allow you to get a sense of the full scope of activities that a professional photographer must engage in. Before you leave photography school, try to get some solid photography work experience under your belt, because chances are, it will be quite unlike your previous classroom encounters.

Work. Study. (And Play)

Homework and a full courseload are no excuse for you to dismiss the idea of getting a photography job on the side. In fact, both work and study can be intertwined into a series of experiences that play off of and strengthen each other. Take your camera with you during your on campus job. You might get paid for taking photographs for a college dance group's spring show, become a photojournalist for the school newspaper, or work in the photography darkroom part-time after classes. There are always opportunities for an aspiring photographer to gain workplace experience, especially in the highly specialized and welcoming environment of an art school. Perhaps classmates will be asking you to take pictures of their pieces for their portfolio, for example, or a photography instructor whom you inspect is looking for an assistant. In fact, many of the jobs that campus photographers are recruited for have hidden perks. If a fraternity pays you to walk around taking pictures at their annual formal, for example, that means that you get a free invite and the chance to chat and eat in between snapping shots. Or if parties aren't your thing, what about pictures of a football game for the sports section of a local paper? Work, study, and play will never again be as compatible as they are during your years pursuing your photography degree, so grab your camera and take advantage of the fact!

Summer Shootin'

Summer is a time to do more than just laze around and take trips to the beach. Or at least if those trips are a necessity, bring your camera along! One great way to get work experience during a school vacation is to find a magazine looking to hire travel photographers for their upcoming summer issue. Photographs of exotic locales are always in demand and hold a special place in any photographer's portfolio. For opportunities closer to home, begin your search by looking into your college's network for alumni and affiliated companies who might be hiring interns. Or simply scour online job-hunting websites and local classified for firms looking for a summer worker. If that search turns up no results, then take matters quite literally into your own hands. Nothing speaks more about your determination than actually visiting local photography studios and galleries on foot, with a resume and your portfolio on hand. Do you seek more first-hand experience from your summer occupation , and chafe at the idea of working under another photographer? Then see how running a summer business works out for you: sell originals and prints at art conventions or in an online shop, or hire yourself out as a freelancer to an organization that might need a few good photos. Wherever your college vacations take you, bring your camera along with an eye for both a good angle and a good opportunity.

Never let up. Make sure that you continually polish your out-of-classroom photography skills during your college experience. Learn how to network, how to haggle with printers, pick up business do's and don'ts from more experienced photographers. Keep yourself exposed to the photography industry, and the transition from school to work will be all the easier for you upon graduation.

New Football Souvenir And Gifts Store - Sports - Soccer

As a fan of football all of my life and spending my childhood growing up on Merseyside in the UK, I gave my allegiance to Liverpool Football Club. I am priviledged to have season tickets for games at Anfield and attend as many as I can. When I left my retail management career to try pastures new I thought about how I could include my passion for football at a business level.I decided that I would create an online store to supply football souvenirs, memorabilia and gifts for football fans all over the world. The store can be found at and is being worked on daily as more and more products are added.

Football has always been a major sport around the whole world. The World Cup is played every 4 years as is the Euro Championships. With the sport becoming a big money business due to sponsorships, media exposure, foreign players joining teams from around the world and a larger "celebrity" status being put on some players such as David Beckham, Ronaldhino, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo it really has exploded into a global empire. You regularly see news clips from asian, indian and african countries showing children kicking a ball around, some with extraordinary skills, who are wearing football shirts of such teams as Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal. It is highly unlikely that they will ever get to see these teams play for real but such is the euphoria and fanatical support that surrounds these teams the products are bought in these countries.

As a season ticket holder for Liverpool FC I have to make a 250 mile round trip from my home in Birmingham to watch my team play. I often travel abroad to watch European games too.I am lucky to have the opportunity to do this and quite often purchase goods from the club stores at the football ground and in the city centre. Some fans have never seen their team play in a stadium or visited their home ground. They have merely watched them on television. This being said doesn't hold them back from having souvenirs and memorabilia to show their support. These include bedroom sets such as duvet sets, lamps and rugs. Stationery products for school, golf products, wallets and tankards. There really is a broad spectrum of products available bearing football clubs names and logos.

The site is expanding daily and will be including many world team products in the run up to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Friday Night Lights is an American television series adapted by Peter Berg, Brian Grazer and David Nevins from a book and film of the same name. During the first three seasons, the series details events surrounding the Dillon Panthers, a high school football team based in fictional Dillon, Texas, with particular focus given to team coach Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler) and his family. In the fourth season, Taylor becomes coach of the Lions at East Dillon High School, set in the poorer side of Dillon with a larger African American population. The show uses this small-town backdrop to address many issues facing contemporary Middle America, including school funding, racism, drugs, abortion, and lack of economic opportunities.

As a show about the community of Dillon, Texas and how the high school football team affects the town as a whole, Friday Night Lights has an ensemble cast. While screen time of characters varies from episode to episode, the show is most focused on Panthers' football coach Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler), who strives to balance his emphasis on family, his status in a sometimes confrontational community, and his personal ambitions. His family - wife Tami Taylor (Connie Britton), a guidance counselor turned principal at Dillon High, and teenage daughter Julie Taylor (Aimee Teegarden) - are also central to the show. When Tami becomes pregnant and gives birth to Gracie Taylor, tensions within the family increase and Julie becomes more rebellious.

Outside of the Taylor family, the show focuses on the respective lives of the Dillon's high school football players. In the series' first episode, star quarterback Jason Street (Scott Porter) suffers an injury that leads to an end to his football career and a disability that he resists and then learns to cope with throughout the series. Lyla Garrity (Minka Kelly), who at the time of Jason's injury was his girlfriend, parallels his story, as she goes from a Panther cheerleader to a Christian youth leader.

As a result of Jason's injury, shy and nervous Matt Saracen (Zach Gilford) becomes the Panthers' starting quarterback and eventually dates Julie. It is also revealed that Matt's father is serving in Iraq and that he must therefore care for his grandmother Lorraine Saracen (Louanne Stephens) by himself, with help only from his best friend Landry Clarke (Jesse Plemons), and eventual live-in nurse and love interest Carlotta Alonso (Daniella Alonso). Brash star running back Brian "Smash" Williams's (Gaius Charles) quest for a college football scholarship and fullback Tim Riggins' (Taylor Kitsch) tale of on-and-off alcoholism and party-life are told as well. Tyra Collette (Adrianne Palicki) also stars as a town vixen who goes from Tim's occasional girlfriend to Landry's lover following Landry's defense of her from a rapist.

I just recently became addicted to Friday night lights, which has long haunted perhaps some metaphysical fantasy set in a desert island and about a certain style melodrama about the family of a man of the mafia. This show has no mob hits, not the sixties nostalgia on Madison Avenue, not housewives (or chemistry teachers) drug trafficking, no musical numbers, no hidden references to the Egyptian hieroglyphics or quantum physics. However, despite all these terrible failures, (Intelligent sarcasm) is a masterpiece. I'm not anti-Lost. I enjoyed the show immensely, with all faults. However, this show is somewhat higher. It is, in fact, a photo-realistic image of life in a small town in Texas, very well written and beautifully acted. The range with some other programs that are overlooked and sadly forgotten by all but some people with good taste: The Call to Glory, Homefront and I'll Fly Away, among others. Somehow, this is a show worthy of the golden age of television "sooial d rama" Naked City, The Defenders, Mr. Novak, Ben Casey, The Fugitive (a social commentary disguised as a thriller), Route 66, People Slattery and West Side East Side. Like the best episodes of the shows, Friday Night Lights offers more questions than answers. This show is one of the best ever. I pray sometimes enigmatic Providence not disappear from the airwaves.

George Best - The Best Footballer In The World - Sports

George Best was born in East Belfast on 22nd May 1946. From a young age his parents recognised George's love for football. His mother said: 'with George it was always the ball!'

At 11 years of age he won a scholarship to the local grammar school Grosvenor High where, unfortunately for George, rugby was the only sport on the curriculum. George hated not being able to play football and so began to skip school so that he could play. He was caught out, with the result that both his parents and the school decided that George would be better off going to Lisnasharragh Secondary, where he could play football.

George very quickly made his mark, and realised it quite quickly too. He was discovered by Bob Bishop when he was just 15 and was signed up Joe Armstrong in 1961, making his debut for Manchester United in 1963. When he started out he was very homesick for his hometown of Belfast and so after playing his first match went back for Christmas. The club rang him up asking him to play against Burnley who had beaten them on Boxing Day. George, having only played one professional game at this point agreed to come back but only if they would fly him back to Belfast straight after the game. The club agreed and didn't regret it as he scored his first goal and United overturned their previous defeat.

George Best is regarded by many as the best footballers to have ever lived, and is best remembered for his time with Manchester United FC. He played for them from 1963 until 1974, and helped them to win the Football League Championship in 1965 and 1967, as well as the European Cup in 1968. Also in 1968 as a testament to his astounding footballing abilities he was named the European Footballer of the Year as well as the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year. People often state: 'Maradona good, Pel better, George Best' and he really did make an impact during his time with Manchester United, who he played 466 games for, scoring 178 goals - 6 of which were in the one game against Northampton Town.

Best's time with Manchester United, coupled with his huge talent, showmanship and good looks (he was dubbed 'the fifth Beatle') made him a huge celebrity. However this celebrity led to his downfall as he developed gambling, womanising and alcohol problems.

Unfortunately after 11 years with the Club, United sacked Best due to his excessive drinking and his failure to attend both training and matches. George was only 27 and he ended up drifting between clubs including Fulham, Dunstable Town, Hibernian, Los Angeles Aztecs, Stockport County and Bournemouth until he retired in 1983 at the age of 37.

In 2002, he had a liver transplant, but caused widespread criticism when he was seen to be drinking again. Unfortunately he died in 2005 at the age of 59 due to the side-effects of the drugs he had to use to prevent his body from rejecting his transplanted liver. The FA Premier League announced that a minute's silence would be observed before all Premiership games to be held over the weekend of his death. He may have led a controversial life but he was a brilliant and extremely respected football player, who once said: 'Pel called me the greatest footballer in the world. That is the ultimate salute to my life.'

College football week 3 - Sports

Week 3 College Football

Let's take a quick look on 4 contests for this weekend that are worth watching(and betting)

.Saturday - California at Minnesota (ESPN, 12:00 p.m.)

Tip: California -14

Is California (2-0 SU, 1-0 ATS) a title contender? Better yet, would you consider the Pac 10 soft if you took off USC? No, yes. Those are my answers and until someone proves me incorrect, I'm not sold on anyone in the conference until they take the crown from Pete Carroll and Troy. The Golden Bears do mantain some talent, especially RB Jahvid Best. However, we'll learn out how good he is real soon considering the schedule Cal faces. Later this game, the Golden Bears square off versus Oregon, USC and UCLA. Head coach Jeff Tedford has had triumph in his tenure versus the Big 10, going 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS, which includes a 42-17 win over Minnesota in 2006. The Big 10 had two chances last week to gain some respect versus the Pac 10 but both Purdue and Ohio State came up little. Can Minnesota (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) step up this weekend? They'll need to pick up the rush defense, which gave up 261 yards in last week's 20-13 victory versus Air Force. The spanking stadium was rocking for the Gophers last week and could help in this spot, especially as a live 'dog. Who will be Golden this week, the Bears or Gophers?

Saturday - Utah at Oregon (ESPN, 3:30 p.m.)

Tip:Take Utah +4

What happens when an unranked team is favored over a ranked team? If you've betting on college sports, then you should know the answer.Oregon (1-1 SU, 0-2 ATS) hasn't looked great by any means this year but is No. 18 Utah (2-0 SU, 0-2 ATS) the real deal? Last year's Sugar Bowl win over Alabama and the Utes' unbeaten 13-0 season has helped their reputation heading into 2009. Sloppy wins over Utah State (35-17) and San Jose State (24-14) to start the year have been unimpressive and could make the faithful in Salt Lake City worry. Back-to-back road trips are tough for any team and even though the Utes have fared well against the Pac 10 at home, they've been humbled in their last two road games against Pac 10 foes. This game is a possible look-ahead for Oregon, who has a conference home opener against California (see above) next Saturday. If Utah escapes Eugene with a win, the next six games appear to be very winnable with exception to a road battle versus UNLV.

Saturday - Tulsa at Oklahoma (FSN, 3:30 p.m.)

Tip: Take Oklahoma -15

Is Landry Jones the answer in Norman? The freshman quarterback tossed for 286 yards and three scores in Oklahoma's (2-0 SU, 0-1 ATS) 64-0 victory on Idaho State last Saturday. Still, most aren't forgetting the loss of QB Sam Bradford or the 14-13 upset to BYU but the win did give the team much needed confidence. The Sooners' defense only gave up 44 yards, which is what they could give up on one play this Saturday when Tulsa (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS) comes to town. The Golden Hurricane offense has posted 44 and 37 in their first two games and both labors were on the road too. Three straight road games are tough for any school, and that's what Tulsa faces this weekend. Oklahoma has won four straight (3-1 ATS) in this series but the point-spread (15.5) on this week's matchup is the lowest number in the last five. That certainly says something almost Tulsa, or perhaps it tells us how the oddsmakers feel about Bob Stoops' banged-up crew.

Saturday - Florida State at Brigham Young (Versus, 7:00 p.m.)

Tip: Take BYU -5.5

The road to the BCS for Brigham Young (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS) continues this weekend at home when Florida State (1-1 SU, 0-2 ATS) visits Provo. The Cougars will be playing their first game at home after defeating Oklahoma (14-13) in Dallas and Tulane (54-3) in the Big Easy. QB Max Hall (638 yards, 71.4%) is having a great year and the Cougars' scheme could have the overzealous FSU defense. The Seminoles only gave up nine points last week, but unfortunately the offense didn't show up in a 19-9 win over Jacksonville State. Bobby Bowden's team had a serious chance to lose this game and if the ball bounces the other way, the Seminoles could simply be 0-2. Gamblers should be aware that this will be FSU's third football game played in the last 12 days, which is tough to ask anybody to do. It seems like an impractible trip for the Seminoles on Saturday, especially when you factor in the travel, altitude and visiting crowd. Then you look at the opponent in BYU, who has gone 18-0 SU and 12-6 ATS in the last three years at home. The line opened at seven but I expect it to jump and jump high. The only thing that may irk some on this matchup is that DirecTV users won't be able to watch it since its being played on Versus, which could be a skilled thing for FSU backers.

football gifts of tottenham fc - Sports - Soccer

Like numerous Football Clubs up and down the country, Tottenham Hotspur's foundations originate in the School and Cricket paternity. The "Hotspur" is believed to be linked to a gentleman named Sir Henry Percy alias Harry Hotspur who existed in the 1500's and whose descendants were quite wealthy landowners."Hotspur Football Club", as it was known became "Tottenham Hotspur Football and Athletic Club", in 1884 to stop the confusion and also to have a more unique name than that of a similar local club that went by the title of "London Hotspur"Their first ground so to speak was the Tottenham Marshes in Greater London, a natural wetland. They then shifted to Northumberland Park in 1888, a location more suitable for spectators and where they could charge gate fees. A set back for Tottenham was when they received no votes which would of allowed them to join the Southern League. This was reversed when in 1895, the Club turned professional and Spurs started to attract bigger crowds at games and with this, a bigger venue was required, so in 1899 the Club moved to their new ground at High Road which is now the famous White Hart Lane which as brought many football gifts to fans.A great achievement for Tottenham Hotspur was in 1901 when they won the FA Cup and in doing so were and still are the only non-League club to have lifted that trophy, which was presented to Spurs Captain Jack Jones. It was at this presentation that ribbons were tied to the Cup by a Spurs Directors wife and that is where the tradition of ribbons on the FA Cup originates. In the 1908/09 season, Tottenham was elected to participate in Division 2 of the Football League and in the same season won promotion as runners up to Division 1. The Clubs high hopes were soon watered down as they found themselves overwhelmed with stronger Clubs and in 1914/15 when football was suspended due to WWI Spurs found themselves at the bottom of the League. After the War in 1919 and with more Clubs turning p rofessional and wanting to join the Football League additional places were allocated and in doing so, the League added two extra Clubs making the total number of Clubs in the League 1 now 22 from 20. There was already a degree of hostility with Arsenal after they moved ground to Tottenham's vicinity but what happened after the War added insult to injury. The Two extra places in League 1 went to Chelsea who finished 19th and the other should naturally of been Tottenham who had finished in 20th place, but Arsenal who had finished in 6th position in League 2 were somehow promoted to Division 1. Even more amazingly, this decision was not over ruled and Arsenal FC stayed in Division 1 and Tottenham in Division 2. This opened up a wound for Spurs that even to this day has not been closed.Tottenham dug deep and at the end of 1919/20 season were crowned champions of Division 2 and went even one better the following year by winning the FA Cup for the second time beating Wolverhampton 1-0.After WW2, footballs popularity was ceaselessly increasing bringing masses to the weekend matches. In 1949 a born and bread Tottenham man and an ex player, Arthur Sydney Rowe became Manager of Spurs. Football gifts like Rowe remain timeless and his input and the strategy,"push and run", he formed while at the Club are still seen in all Football Squads today. General like in his tactics he brought some thing special to Spurs and now they were going places. They Finishes in top position that same season Rowe took charge but there was more to come in the ensuing season, Division 1. Only losing seven games, they were comfortable leaders for the majority of the time and crowned champions with Manchester United runners up.Like all new methods of play, especially those that work and are successful, meant other Clubs were adopting and adapting Rowe's, "push and run", style. With this Tottenham ended the 1951/52 season a close second to a younger Man United squad. The 1952/53 se ason saw the Club in a mess finishing only 10th. Another mess which did contribute to this middle of the table result was the poor condition of the home pitch. Even for the low standards back then it was still considered disgraceful. The Rowe years were coming to an end as he handed his resignation in 1955. Much to do with Rowe's departure was his health and of course Spurs not doing as well in the tables as they once were.If there was a man, who knew everything about Tottenham Hotspur FC it was Bill Nicholas. He had served the Club in every aspect upon leaving school and was given the opportunity to manage in 1958. In terms of football gifts Nicholas was another and stamped his authority on his opening game against Everton, thrashing them 10-4, making this a Spurs record at the time. There was optimism in the air once again and rightly so. Tottenham's first 3 seasons with Nicholas's guidance were a blast with them winning the Double in 1961 then reaching the FA Cup/European Cup semi finals in 1962. 1963 saw Spurs lift the Cup Winners Cup, and then they did have a quiet spell while Nicholas basically rebuilt the whole squad but then bounced back in 1967, beating Chelsea FC 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley with Robertson and Saul the goal scorers. Spurs later added the League Cup in 1971 and the UEFA Cup in 1972 then the League Cup again in 1973. Before Nicholas resigned in 1974/75 season, he had accumulated 8 major trophies and Spurs had never tasted success to that degree.Tottenham Hotspur couldn't have wished for a better start to the 80's. Now with, Keith Burkinshaw in charge they beat Manchester City 3-2 to add another FA Cup to their collection and then did it again the following season against QPR. In 1984 with players like Gareth Brookes and Glenn Hoddle enthused Spurs to grab another major trophy, the UEFA Cup. The mid and late 80's did see Spurs have numerous chances but it always just seemed to elude them.In 1991 and under manager Te rry Venables the club did have some success. With players like Paul Gascoigne and Gary Lineker the FA Cup was once more theirs. Largely though, Tottenham was really much the same as they were in the late 80's but had an extra problem of financial security. Certain individuals like Sir Alan Sugar stepped in to curb the Clubs 20 million debt. In addition, that meant other individuals had to be sold off, one of these included England star Paul Gascoigne. The club was in better hands but still not producing the goods and after another poor season Sir Alan Sugar sold his hold on the Club to ENIC Sports PLC.Former Spurs player Glenn Hoddle took managers post in 2001 with big ideas to turn the Club around. In fairness he didn't have a particularly bad opening season plus steered the squad to the League Cup final, but cracks started to appear in the relationships with certain players and these individuals began complaining about Hoddle methods or lack of them. Again with no good res ults taking shape he was sacked by the board in 2003/04.The most recent manager to date, Harry Redknapp, former manager of Portsmouth joined Tottenham 2008/09 season. With the Club in a serious position of relegation, Redknapp needed only wins for survival and got them. He had only been in charge for a couple of weeks but this saw Spurs move up the table and out of the danger zone and when the final whistle blew for end of season Spurs were mid table. For this season, lets hope we can get some more football gifts at white Hart Lane with that old Tottenham magic.
