So go ahead, girls -- pick up a hockey stick (field or ice, any kind will do), a bow and arrow, a fencing foil, a bowling ball, or another sporting implement you haven't experienced before. Do a little research to see what schools offer scholarship programs for women in these sports. If these schools match your general criteria for a good college fit, you should pursue them. Brian Westbrook was born on September 2, 1979 in Fort Washington, Maryland. Although Westbrook is not the most skilled, biggest, or athletic player he has always used his drive and determination to make his way to the top of any level that he has ever competed at. For this reason, he is known as one of the most complete and versatile players in the entire football world. This is saying a lot when you take all of the great players into consideration.

Westbrook played high school football at DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland. Year in and year out DeMatha is a powerhouse in high school football and this held true during Westbrooks time at the school. Although he did not get a lot of attention from college recruiters, he did do enough to get a few looks from the next level.

After high school Westbrook took his game to Villanova University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Although he had to fight through several injuries while in college, he still managed to become one of the best players that this level has ever seen. He still holds the NCAA record for all purpose yards with 9,512. On top of all those yards Westbrook also scored 84 touchdowns during his time at Villanova. He finished off his college career by winning the Walton Payton Award which is given annually to the best player in NCAA Division I-AA.

Although Westbrook had a great college career NFL teams were hesitant to pick him in the 2002 NFL Draft due to his small size (58), injuries, and small college experience. But the Philadelphia Eagles decided to take a chance in the third round, and this ended up being a very good decision. In 2004 he finally got a chance to start a few games, and he did a great job by rushing for more than 800 yards. He followed this up with back to back seasons of 1,000 total yards or more in 2005 and 2006.

By educating the young athletes at high school level or even younger, you have the potential of preventing serious or catastrophic head, neck and spinal injuries. Many of these injuries can be prevented by teaching the player that he should not perform a tackle or block with the head bent. Do not use a helmet block. This technique will cause a great deal of pressure and surpass the ability of the spine, surrounding ligaments and muscle to absorb the jolt of the play.

Education must begin with the player. The player should be encouraged to keep their head up on contact and not to use the helmet as the primary contact. They should also be performing strengthening and conditioning exercises for the neck and muscles that surround the cervical spine. Although their mind may be on the play, they should also concentrate on the proper procedures necessary to prevent injuries whether minor or catastrophic.

The coaching staff of the team should also be taught. A healthy exchange of information with the coaching staff can give the chiropractor the knowledge needed to conduct a beneficial team meeting with the players. First, they need to know what the staff knows about body mechanics and technique. Then a meeting with the entire team should be in order. During that meeting, there are points that need to be discussed including the muscle building exercises that are necessary to maintain the integrity of the cervical spine. This should also include some training for flexibility as well.

By having properly fitted helmets on each player, some injuries can be less severe or prevented. Messages such as protect your neck, don't contact with your helmet, keep your head up and don't use your head as a piece of equipment in a football game.

Parents should also be included in these training sessions. By presenting a program that will assist in the accomplishment of a safe football game, much injury and issues can be avoided. Parents can encourage their students to perform the proper exercises and give reminders as they leave for the game. No type of helmet is able to prevent all injuries of the brain, neck and spine, but many such injuries can be prevented if the coaches emphasize the mandatory sticker on the helmet and use it as a tool for teaching the players. LSU Football Predictions 2010 - Sports - Football

The LSU Tigers went 9-4 last season, with all four of their losses coming by 10 points or less. And each loss came against a solid team with the likes of Alabama, Florida, Penn State and Ole Miss. But it appears the Tigers may be slipping in head coach Les Miles' 6th year on the job. Miles is 51-15 at LSU through his first five seasons, but he'll have his hands full with only six offensive and four defensive starters returning.

Offense:

Miles wants to get back to pounding the rock with more consistency after the Tigers averaged just 122.8 rushing yards per game last season. Carrying the bulk of the load in the running game will be RB Stevan Ridley, who was forced into action in the final two games last season. But he'll have plenty of help from Richard Murphy, who is returning from injury. The electric freshman Michael Ford rushed for more than 200 yards in nine games as a senior in high school, and he is their RB of the future.

QB Jordan Jefferson is back to lead the offense after throwing for 17 touchdowns to 7 interceptions as a sophomore. He is a nice talent, but he doesn't have many proven playmakers to get the ball to in the passing game. WR Terrence Tolliver had 53 receptions for 735 yards last season, but he's their only proven returnee at wideout. Both starting tackles are back along the offensive line, but the interior will be all new.

Defense:

LSU stayed in ball games last season thanks to a defense that allowed just 16.2 PPG. But only 4 starters return, and the Tigers must replace five of their front seven. Senior DT Lazarius Levingston is a stud, and DT Drake Nevis brings some experience. Sophomore end Sam Montgomery could be the best of the bunch, and the team has praised him throughout spring ball. LB Kelvin Sheppard led the team with 110 tackles a year ago and he'll be counted upon heavily to help out an inexperienced linebacking corps.

Also back is junior CB Patrick Peterson, who scored two touchdowns last season, one on an interception return and another on a blocked field goal return. He held Alabama's Julio Jones to three catches, while also holding Georgia's A.J. Green to just four grabs. Teams will throw away from him this season, putting sophomore Morris Claiborne in a tough spot opposite Peterson. Junior SS Brandon Taylor started nine games last year, and FS Jai Eugene will have to adapt quickly to his new position.

SEC Prediction: 3rd in the West - Both Alabama and Arkansas have many more playmakers on offense than LSU. The Tigers must find a way to put up more points this season after scoring just 24.9 PPG a year ago, and it's not looking promising. The defense has a lot of talent despite only four returning starters, but the Tigers will be hard-pressed to match the 16.2 PPG they gave up a year ago. I have LSU finishing behind both the Crimson Tide and the Razorbacks in the West this season.

College Football Predictions: 2010 Florida Gators. - Sports - Football

The Florida Gators were not satisfied with the way the 2009 season ended, especially the SEC championship game loss to the eventual BCS champions Alabama Crimson Tide. Gone from the team are offensive leaders Tim Tebow, the Pouncy twins and defensive standouts Joe Haden and Brandon Spikes, but the Gators always have a deep team as they are now the team to beat in the talent rich state of Florida. According to some of the players the offense may be even better in 2010-11 with John Brantley at quarterback, that's hard to believe but if you talk to Gator faithful they will tell you that his guy is a big time player. Brantley will be throwing to his main targets wide receiver Deonte Thompson and tight end Aaron Hernandez. The Gators will be loaded at the running back position with juniors Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey getting the majority of the carries and senior Emmanuel Moody getting his share also. The Gators finished 6th nationally averaging 457.9 yards per game, 10th in ru shing yards with about 221 per game and were also 10th nationally in scoring with about 36 points per game but the passing game was just average 236.1 per game a number that will probably improve with the talents of John Brantley.

The Gator defense were a tough bunch in 2009 but they lost 4 players to the NFL draft. They were in the top 15 in almost every defensive category that counted, they were #2 in rushing yards allowed giving up just over 100 yards per game and #4 in total yards per games and also #4 in points allowed with 12.4. This sports handicapper doesn't know if the Gators defense will be as stout as they were last year, the defensive backfield may be the strong point of the defense, what else would you expect from a team that is so athletic. 2 year starter Janoris Jenkins will be the starter at one cornerback, Jenkins teamed with 1st round draft pick Joe Haden for the past 2 years on the corners, Jenkins has been a starter at the position since he arrived on campus as a true freshman from Pahokee, Florida. Ahmad Black will return as one of the starting safeties, the other safety position was left vacant when Major Wright another South Florida high school star and starter since he walked on campus as a true freshman was drafted in the 3rd round by the Chicago Bears. A lot of holes to fill on the defensive side of the ball for Florida. The Gators were 7-6 on betting odds against the spread last year and they went over the total 5 times and under 8 times. Florida opens up on September 4th at home against the Miami of Ohio Redhawks.

2010 College Football Predictions - Texas - Sports - Football

It will be no easy task for Texas to get back to the Big 12 title game after losing the winningest quarterback in the history of NCAA Division I football. The offense also lost top receiver Jordan Shipley, and the defense must find a way to replace Lamarr Houston, Sergio Kindle, Roddrick Muckelroy and Earl Thomas. That's the bad news. The good news is head coach Mack Brown is a ridiculous 128-27 in 12 seasons at Texas. In other words, Texas is one of the few programs across the country bringing in enough talent year after year to consistently reload.

Offense: Garrett Gilbert is faced with the task of replacing one of the best college football players of all-time. He does enter the 2010 season having won his last 30 game as a starting quarterback, spanning his 2007 and 2008 high school seasons when he led Lake Travis High to consecutive state titles. We did see glimpses of brilliance when he replaced McCoy in last season's BCS championship, but we also saw classic rookie mistakes. Coach Brown is not confident that Gilbert is ready to run the spread so he is installing a power-running offense to take some of the pressure off of his young signal caller. Texas has succeeded with this type of offense in the past with running backs like Ricky Williams and Cedric Benson putting up huge numbers. The problem is I don't see any tailbacks in Austin of their caliber. Brown was not happy about how ineffective his running game was last season. The Horns averaged only 4.0 yards per carry, their lowest tally since averaging 3.4 in 200 2. Tre' Newton will get the bulk of the work once again. He gained 552 yards and scored six touchdowns a season ago. If the running game can show the kind of improvement Brown is hoping for, it will open up some nice play-action passing opportunities for Gilbert. Such opportunities will go a long way toward boosting his confidence.

Defense: The Longhorns led the entire country in rushing defense in 2009, allowing only 72.4 rushing yards per game. Stuffing the run will once again be their forte. Defensive coordinator Will Muschamp has enjoyed a lot of success by daring teams to beat Texas through the air. His defenses play the run, forcing teams to pass, and that allows his powerful ends and talented defensive backs to take care of the rest. One of those ends is Sam Acho. He led the Horns with 10 sacks in 2009. Curtis Brown, Aaron Williams and Blake Gideon are all future NFL defensive backs. Gideon really has a nose for the football, picking off six passes last season. The Horns did lose some talented players, but Muschamp has enough talent stepping in to execute his scheme again.

Prediction: 2nd Big 12 South - As good as the Texas offense was in 2009, the defense was the strength of the team. That will again be the case in 2010. Brown will rely more heavily on his defense as he looks to grind out games while his new starting quarterback gains experience. Texas will likely take a small step back following the loss of McCoy, but it is still talented enough to post another double-digit win season. College Football Predictions: 2010 Miami Hurricanes - Sports - Football

The Miami Hurricanes went 9-4 in 2009 on College Football Picks but started out 3-1 the 1st 4 games against Florida State, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Oklahoma. The only loss in this stretch was at Virginia Tech 31-7, The Hurricanes ended the season with a 20-14 loss against Wisconsin. Miami is on their way back and Randy Shannon doesn't have to go far to get great players, he can go 15 miles in any direction and get some of the best high school talent in the country. In 2009 the Hurricane offense ranked 45th nationally in total offense averaging just over 399 yards per game, 31st in passing yards with 261.9 yards per game , averaged 31 points per game but the running game was a little weak, ranking 70th in the country. The defensive statistics were similar to that of the offense

The 2010 version of the Miami Hurricanes have the most talent they have had in a long time, to put it mildly, the Hurricanes will are back. The offense is led by quarterback Jacory Harris who threw for 3,352 last year and this year they are loaded with receivers. Harris must take better care of the ball in 2010, the running game took a hit when Greg cooper tore up a knee in the Champs Sports Bowl game but Damien Berry is more than capable of carrying the load plus a steady stream of South Florida prep stars will get the job done at the position. The Canes must also replace 3 of 5 starters on the offensive line.

The Miami defense has enough talent to be in the top 15 in the country. Miami returns 8 starters on this side of the football, the leader is defensive end Allen Bailey who had 7 sacks and 11 tackles for loss last year. Colin McCarthy is a big time linebacker who was 2nd team all conference last year, he will be teamed with the equally talented Sean Spence who had a injury riddled season in 2009. Cornerback Brandon Harris has next level potential and keep an eye on sophomore Strong Safety Ray Ray Armstrong who has all world written all over him. Miami went 7-6 against the spread, going over the total 6 times and over 7 times.

College Football Predictions: 2010 Florida State Seminoles. - Sports - Football

It will be strange looking at the Florida State Seminole College Football Picks team and not seeing Bobby Bowden on the sideline. New head coach Jimbo Fisher takes over a team that has a ton of talent on offense and a ton of questions on defense. If Fisher can do something about the defense this Florida State team could make it to the ACC title game. FSU were one of the most bizarre teams in college football last year they would struggle at home against a division double A team and then go out to BYU and blow a highly ranked cougar team off of the field. The Seminole went 7-6 overall in 2009 and were 4-9 against the spread, going over the betting odds total 8 times and under 5 times. The Seminole offense ranked 29th overall nationally averaging 421 yards per game, the team rushed for a little over 149 yards per game which was 60th in the country, The Noles scored 30 points per game and proved they can put points on the board against any team in NCAA football. The defense r anked near the bottom in nearly every category and that is totally out of character for a Florida State football team, they gave up as many points as thy scored per game and that is scary.

The 2010 Florida State offense returns 10 starters which will again make them one of the most potent offenses in college football. The leader is senior Christian Ponder who completed 68 percent of his passes and threw for 2,717 yards before separating his shoulder in game 9 of the season last year. Ponder will throw to Bert Reid, Jarmon Fortson and Taiwan Easterling, all three of these guy's had productive seasons a year ago with Reid leading the group with 710 receiving yards. The Seminole could have the best offensive line in the nation as they return all 5 starters from the unit. The running backs will be Jermaine Thomas and Chris Thompson, both are very capable of gaining 1,000 yards. The FSU offense should be fun to watch.

the defense, this is where all of the question marks are, new defensive coordinator Mark Stoops will have them vastly improved, Stoops helped his brother with a tough University of Arizona defense that ranked 25th in NCAA football. Like the University of Florida and the University of Miami, Florida State gets the cream of the crop in the Sunshine State and the Seminoles landed one of the best defensive backs in the 2010 recruiting class when they signed LaMarcus Joyner from St.Thomas Aquinas high school in Ft Lauderdale. Joyner should play on the other side of Greg Reid who had a great freshman campaign in 2009. Don't look for this unit to resemble the defense of the glory days but they are on their way back to that status. Florida State will be the surprise team in the ACC and will be in the title game.

As a non-ceasing recession pinches schooling and education with severe budget cuts, California schools engage in a new way of money earning, which is not that unusual for the renowned star place.

School districts from Lawndale to Glendale are seeking to earn thousands of dollars a day from renting their campuses as locations for movies, TV shows, commercials, and even truck parking.

The money is being used to save teachers' jobs, upgrade school facilities and replenish districts' dwindling funds.

Officials at FilmLA, the Los Angeles film promotion nonprofit, say they've already had a flurry of inquiries from cash-strapped districts in recent months asking how they can market themselves to production companies.

The surge of interest from schools comes amid a handy time. Youth networks such as the Disney Channel and MTV are moving away from reality shows to scripted programs that often feature kids at school.

To serve the increased demand from both schools and producers, FilmLA recently rolled out a new website featuring photos of campuses and a description to make it easier for location managers to find what they're looking for, whether a football field, classroom or cafeteria.

Offense:

Despite having four returning starters, the offensive line still lacks depth, but will get a boost from the addition 6-6, 330-pound guard Quinton Spain from Petersburg High in Virginia. He will be flanked by Big East all-freshman team center Joe Madsen. The line will be rounded out with Eric Jobe, Josh Jenkins and Don Barclay, all whom gained plenty of experience playing a full schedule last season.

Defense:

The defense will return nine veteran starters from last year's campaign but will sorely miss senior linebacker Reed Williams along with his 68 tackles and two sacks in 2009. But both backups, Najee Goode and Anthony Leonard, who received some valuable experience last year, are back and will start between leading tacklers Pat Lazear and J.T. Thomas, quelling most of the concerns at the position.

After finishing 23rd in the rankings, the Central Michigan Chippewa's capped off the 2009 season with an exciting 44-41 double-overtime victory over the Troy Trojans in the GMAC Bowl. It was a fitting ending for a team that completed the year 12-2 overall, winning all eight of their MAC West conference games. The Chippewas' potent offense rushed for 168 and passed for another 255 yards per game, scoring an average of 33.9 points to lead the conference and finish No. 13 overall in the country.

Now first year head coach Dan Enos will accept the challenge of leading a team that has lost numerous key offensive players, including star quarterback Dan LeFevour. He will put a lot of faith in a staunch defense that will be heavily replied upon to shoulder much of the load, always keeping the Chippewas within striking distance.

Offense:

The Chippewa's will return 12 starters in all, but not among them will be star quarterback Dan LeFevour who departed the program after being snatched up by the Chicago Bears in the 2010 NFL draft. Filling his shoes will be a difficult task for any replacement. That candidate is sophomore Ryan Radcliffe, who has struggled during spring practice trying to grasp Enos' new offensive scheme. The redshirt sophomore completed 25 of 41 passes for 229 yards in the spring game, and if he can just perform at an acceptable level, the defense will cover him. He should be ready for the season opener against Hampton.

The Chippewas' offensive line has been hampered by a lack of depth and injuries during the spring and this could hurt an all-important running game.

That could be bad for the CMU running back duo Paris Cotton and Tim Phillips. Cotton showed his versatility and ability during last year's contest against Michigan State where he rushed for an average of 4.5 per yards per carry and proved he could also contribute as a fifth receiver, scoring on a 9-yard TD reception in the final minute of play to lift the Chippewas' over the favored Spartans. The small statured Phillips will look to prove himself after an injury-plagued season that limited him to just four games. The backfield is rounded out by freshman tailback Ben Brown who is coming out of Romeo High in Michigan, where as a senior he rushed for 1,405 yards and 19 touchdowns. He should expect to see some time as Enos works him into the rotation.

Meanwhile, the receiving group took a big hit when they lost wide receiver Antonio Brown to the NLF draft, being selected by the Steelers in the 6th round. This has left Enos questioning who will take over the number one receiving spot. It appears that youngster Deon Butler will have a chance to start as a freshman after a dominant high school career, but it is unclear if he will be selected as the top starter.

Defense:

Overall the Chippewas' defense has just the right mix of veterans and new additions and should be able to maintain the teams' suffocating defensive style that held opponents to a conference-best 18.9 points per game -- ranked No.17 in the nation overall in 2009.

Enos has spent much of spring practice adding size to a roster that was dominated with smaller players, sifting through the new recruits and several returning players all who are all looking to make a solid first impression in hopes of receiving a starting position on the roster.

One of those returns is DB Jahleel Addea. The sophomore will receive increased playing time this season after a decent showing in 2009, following a redshirt 2008. Addea has natural ability and most importantly -speed. He will be paired with Anthony Hollis, a junior college transfer who has impressed the coaching staff since his arrival. Hollis runs the 40-yard in 4.3 seconds so his speed will be a welcome addition to the Chippewas' secondary.

One of the newer additions to this year's defensive line will be DE Kevin Henry. The 6-5, 255lbs Henry, is endowed with size and strength while being able to have the ability of chasing down the oppositions quarterback. His presence on the line alone should strike fear into the heart of all MAC QBs.

Finally, amongst the returning starters are linebackers Nick Bellore and Matt Berning. The duo led the defense during last season's campaign, with Berning tallying up a career-high 108 tackles and Bellore with his average 100 tackles in the past three seasons and two interceptions.

2010 Prediction: First in the MAC: The Chippewas had a historic 2009 season. While I don't see them topping that feat, I do see them finishing first in the MAC West and heading for their fifth straight bowl appearance. The team will struggle offensively at first, but should find their way by Week three or four. Because of that, a lot will be riding on the defense to make more big plays and force more turnovers, especially early on in the season.

The sure handed Senior grabbed 53 balls a season ago with an average of over 13 ypc. Oregon's biggest loss on offense is TE Ed Dickson as he gave them versatility in the passing game and was drafted in the third round by the Baltimore Ravens.

The defense at UO has always lagged behind in terms of production compared to the offense, but that all changed in 2009. Pieces have finally fell into place on this side of the ball and eight starters return for defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti. Last year, the Oregon D was stingy against the run allowing only 3.4 ypc and a measly 208 yards through the air. Gone are S TJ Ward (Cleveland Browns) and CB Walter Thurmond III (Seattle Seahawks) who were key parts of the recent success the defensive side of the ball has had. FS Sophomore John Boyett is more than capable of filling the void left by Ward as his 90 tackles led the team. CB Cliff Harris is most likely the guy that will get tested early and often in his second year with the Ducks. He did manage to start two games as a true freshman, but expect an array of balls to be thrown his direction when good quarterbacks face this defense.

Autzen Stadium is one of the toughest venues in all of college football to play because of the deafening noise level that it can reach. The key game for the Ducks will be Oct 30th at USC in what could decide the Pac-10 crown. The non conference schedule is a bit simple for a program like this, but a trip to Tennessee on Sept 11th will test their quarterback of choice. Going back to the Rose Bowl has to be the ultimate goal for this team and with a two year bowl ban handed down to USC the chances of that look bright. I predict yet another 10 win season for the Quack Attack.

Much can be said about how good the Cincinnati offense was last season. They outscored opponents by an average of 15 points/game and their lowest output in a game was 24 points (twice). Even with the departure of QB Tony Pike and WR Mardy Gilyard, the 2010 version of offense will score points in bunches. QB Zach Collaros is the top dog now that Pike is in the NFL. He made it difficult on the coaching staff to take him out after taking over for an injured Pike against South Florida. Collaros threw for over 1400 yards and 10 touchdowns adding an additional 344 yards on the ground with four more scores. Expect Cincinnati to run the ball more often this season with All Big East caliber RB Isaish Pead in the backfield. The explosive back averaged nearly 7 yards/carry and scored 9 touchdowns. Cincy is absolutely loaded at the wide receiver position once again. Armon Binns is the main playmaker, catching 61 passes for 888 yards and 11 touchdowns earning 2nd team All Big East hono rs. Joining him will be DJ Woods, who snagged 51 balls as a sophomore. The dependable Woods is an effective player in the slot. One of the more interesting storylines on this team is WR Vidal Hazelton. He originally signed with USC out of high school but left after starting 7 games as a true freshman. Hazelton is built much like Binns and will provide another big target in the passing game. TE Ben Guidugli is one of the best tight ends in the country and provides yet another option for Collaros.

The schedule sets up fairly nicely early in the season for Cincy. A Thursday night game on September 16th will be a test at NC State. Their game against Oklahoma the following week should be a shootout. Big East play opens with Louisville on the road. Their first two conference games occur on a Friday night. Tough road match-ups at West Virginia and Connecticut could determine where they end up in the pecking order. I don't think the offense will miss a beat, but the defense is comparable to last season and was shredded by good offenses at the end of the year. 2010 Bowling Green Football Predictions - Sports - Football

The Bowling Green Falcons wrapped up the 2009 college football season with a disappointing 43-42 loss to Idaho at the Humanitarian Bowl. The Falcons completed its seventh winning season in nine years going 7-6, including a 6-2 record in the MAC and a third place finish. Under the guidance of head coach Dave Clawson the Falcons opened the season 1-4 before rebounding to end the season with four consecutive wins. The strong finish ranked Bowling Green #111 and 6th in the MAC by Athlon to start this year's campaign. With less than a dozen returning starters, Clawson and his expert coaching staff will face the overwhelming task of rebuilding their program. Recruiting has been well thought out so expect it to be a short process.

Offense:

After succumbing to a loss of 18 seniors from last year's squad, including QB Tyler Sheehan, Clawson will look to fill multiple offensive positions starting with quarterback.

Bowling Green was built around its passing attack and it won't be easy replacing the spectacular senior who passed for over 10,000 yards and 70 touchdowns in three seasons as a starter. But Clawson is known for his knack in developing young QBs and he has a perfect candidate in redshirt freshman Matt Schilz. The 6-2 190 lbs sophomore was named an All-CIF Southern Section QB throwing for 3,200 yards and 31 touchdowns in leading Maranatha High School to an 11-2 record as a senior.

Of course there are a couple of other likely contenders in fellow redshirt Kellen Pagel, Aaron Pankratz and Caleb Watkins. All had good spring practice performances and could be chosen for the job.

Among the four offensive starters returning in 2010, is running back Willie Geter, who along with graduating senior Chris

Bullock, combined for over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2009. The 5-foot-7 explosive back displayed his athleticism by running for 116 yards against Toledo scoring twice, as well as two TDs on 92 yards in the Falcons Humanitarian Bowl effort. His new partners in crime will likely be sophomore John Pettigrew and junior FB Zach Akenberger.

The receiving corps will be lead by WR Adrian Hodges. Standing at just 5-11, the sophomore plays much larger, and averaged nine yards a catch with 417 overall in his debut season. The group is rounded out with veteran wide receivers Tyrone Pronty, Calvin Wiley and Ray Hutson. The defense doesn't need to be stellar, but they do need to play well enough to allow the Falcons offense to do its job.

2010 Prediction: Third in the MAC East: There will be a lot of questions surrounding this team at the start of he year, and depending on how or where the Falcons end up at the conclusion of the season will determine their success. They will struggle to move the ball offensively and the defensive unit will likely see its share of troubles with young and somewhat inexperienced players. Mix in a tough non-league schedule, including games at Troy, Tulsa and Michigan, and Bowling Green's chances of equaling last year's 7-6 record and second straight bowl bid seems highly unlikely.

The Herd used the run to setup the pass in 2009, leaning heavily on RB Darius Marshall. Two new offensive coordinators will have to find a way to replace 1131 yards and 11 touchdowns that was produced by Marshall. RB Martin Ward will likely be the main for that job. The sophomore back saw limited action last season, but made the most of his opportunities. He was second on the team in rushing with 393 yards and was named the MVP of their bowl win over Ohio with a two touchdown performance. Terrell Edwards-Maye hit the 100 yard mark once last season and is a capable backup. Coach Holliday has two options at quarterback this season. Brian Anderson started every game a year ago and threw for over 2600 yards and 14 touchdowns. The competition for his starting job is intense. AJ Graham was Florida's Mr. Football two years ago and used up his red shirt in 09'. Willy Korn was highly regarded out of high school, but things never came together at Clemson and now he has left Marshall after the coaching staff decided he was better suited for defense. This is the most talent they have had a QB since the Byron Leftwich era. WR Antavious Wilson will be one of the best at his position in Conference USA this year. A 60 catch, 724 yard season earned him freshman All-American honors and whoever the quarterback is should target Wilson on a regular basis.

He made 15-17 field goal attempts last year with a long of 50 yards. Look for Tyler Warner to be the replacement.

The season will begin in the Horseshoe at Ohio State on Sept 2nd for Marshall. In-state rival West Virginia is the Week 2 opponent. Doc Holliday spent the past two seasons as associate head coach for the Mountaineers. The "Battle for the Bell" vs. Ohio goes down on Sept 25th and will be a rematch of the 2009 Little Caesars Pizza bowl. They draw SMU and UTEP out of the West division. Their conference opener on Oct 2nd could set the tone for the rest of the season when they travel to Southern Miss. I like this team as a sleeper and believe they finish 7-5.

John Thomas Shepherd started the year at quarterback, but gave way to Nick Fanuzzi after suffering an injury. Fanuzzi finished the year at QB and passes for nearly 1600 yards and 11 touchdowns. He will have some competition for the starting position this year with Miami (FL) transfer Taylor Cook and redshirt freshman Taylor McHargue battling him for the spot. The running back position should show much greater production with the addition of Michigan transfer Sam McGuffie. McGuffie played his high school ball in Texas and was a prized recruit, but transferred back to his home state after seeing limited action in his first season with the Wolverines. Charles Ross returns at running back and had a team high 11 touchdowns last year. He will likely take a back seat to McGuffie in 2010. Who the starting quarterback will be throwing to is somewhat of a mystery. Patrick Randolph is the top returning receiver as he grabbed 39 passes for 356 yards and four scores in 09'. Whoever fills the spot of the number two receiver is anyone's guess. Junior Roddy Maginot is a name to keep in mind. The offensive line returns all five starters and should be one of the top units in Conference USA. LT Scott Mitchell earned 2nd team all-conference honors for his play last season.

Rice will play their opener in Reliant Stadium against the Texas Longhorns. The Mean Green of North Texas will host the Owls in Week 2. Three straight home games follow with games vs. Baylor, Northwestern and their conference opener against SMU on Oct. 2nd. The Bayou Bucket will go down on Oct. 16th when Houston hosts Rice. These two schools are just over 6 miles apart and have played each other since 1974. They begin a three game road trip the following week that could play a large role on how their season plays out. I predict a 5-7 finish for the Owls.

The Georgia Bulldogs are coming off an 8-5 season, one in which they went just 4-4 in SEC play. Certainly, it's not up to the standards that head coach Mark Richt has set for his program, as he's 90-27 in his nine years coaching the Bulldogs. The bar that he has set makes anything short of a 10-win season a failure. Ten wins is possible, but it won't be easy for this year's Georgia team.

I preview the Bulldogs below, showing which players they will put on the field offensively and defensively. I also list more predictions on this team in terms of the SEC. Offense:

The Bulldogs return ten starters offensively, but the one starter they need to replace is at quarterback which is also concerning to any team. Freshman Aaron Murray appears to have the inside track to the starting job, but Logan Gray will be pressing him for playing time all year. WR A.J. Green is the star of this offense, who had 53 receptions last year despite playing in just eight games.

All five starting offensive linemen return, so the Bulldogs should have a solid running game and should also be able to keep their QB upright. The tandem of Caleb King and Washaun Ealey in the Georgia backfield is a potent one, and this backs should carry the load while splitting time this season. Sophomore WR's Tavarres King and Rantavious Wooten will be asked to step up this season and take some pressure off of Green, while TE Orson Charles figures to be a bigger part of the passing game this year as well.

New defensive coordinator Todd Grantham has installed a 3-4 scheme this season with attacking the opposing backfield becoming a priority. Only five starters return on defense, but Georgia is happy with a pair of newcomers at defensive end in Abry Jones and DeMarcus Dobbs. Though they did not start a year ago, this duo combined for 12 sacks and 36 QB hurries. They will help ease the transition up front, while three starting linebackers come back. Justin Houston is the leader of this group and this experienced linebacking corps is the strength of the defense.

Returning starters in CB Brandon Boykin and SS Bacarri Rambo return to lead the secondary. Vance Cuff had a solid spring and could break through at cornerback in his senior season. FS Jakar Hamilton should start here over Nick Williams, but each will see plenty of time on the field. Hamilton is a junior college transfer, while Williams is a converted linebacker.

SEC Prediction: 2nd East Division - I fully expect Georgia to give Florida a run for their money in the East. The X-factor that I haven't talked about yet could come from the kicking game, where PK Blair Walsh connected on 20 of 22 field goals last year and P Drew Butler was a first-team All American last season while averaging 48.1 yards per punt. The only reason I have the Bulldogs listed behind the Gators is due to having an unproven quarterback under center. Aaron Murray was highly touted out of high school, though, and could certainly prove his doubters wrong this season.
