Don't Just Wish And Hope! Do It! - Self Help - Motivational

Copyright (c) 2008 Mind Body Spirit Central, LLC

"Be careful of what you dream, because it may come true".

My high-school football coach, Coach "Pic" would tell us this every day in his motivational speech as we prepared for the upcoming game. His objective was to get each and everyone of us to create a mental picture of what we wanted to do - individually and as a team.

So, here are three strategies that I have used successfully and that you can utilize to achieve your dreams...

Number 1 - Write your dreams down on paper.

There are numerous studies that prove the value of writing down and keeping track of your thoughts and goals. A study sponsored by the Ford Foundation found that:

- 23% of the population has no idea what they want from life, and as a result, they do not have much.

- 67% of the population has a general idea of what they want; they just do not have any plans for how to achieve it.

- Only 10% of the population has specific, well-defined goals, but even then, seven out of the ten of those people reach their goals only half the time.

- The top 3%, however, achieved their goals 89% of the time.

What accounted for the spectacular difference between the top 3% and the others (i.e., the 97% who do NOT)? The top 3% wrote down their goals, their dreams, their THOUGHTS. Quite simply, dreams are NOT goals until they are written down on paper. They become a road map for you to follow.

Number 2 - "Pre-set" your mental state for the next day before you turn in for the night.

Here's my secret. Before resting my head on the pillow, I spend about five to ten minutes in quiet reflection, analysis and thought as to what I want my next day to be. I think about the things that I want to achieve, such as a financial goal, spiritual strength, courage or other goals, and let my subconscious "dream-mind" work on these while I sleep. I have learned from experience that this strategy not only works in the short term to solve an immediate problem, but also helps me to come up with solutions to achieve a longer-term goal.

Number 3 - Review your list of dreams and do not be discouraged when you are "off course".

When you focus your mind on your dreams, desires and goals, you centralize and focus your attention, just like you focus a camera lens on the subject of your photograph. Be sure to monitor and check yourself from time to time. People who do not follow the practice of honest, self evaluation can never identify when they are getting off course.

For example, before an airplane takes off and flies from one location to another, the crew plots out a flight plan. Along the way, they must account for headwinds, tailwinds, turbulence, weather issues and more that cause the plane to drift off course. Now, do the pilots panic? No! They review, analyze and check the plane's telemetry and systematically make the adjustments required to get the passengers safely to the destination. Systematic and ongoing self evaluation will allow you to do the same by reading your "telemetry" and keeping you on your "flight plan" so that you successfully reach your destination.

Eleanor Roosevelt said, "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams".

Design the future of your dreams. And be careful, they may come true!

Breach of Trust - Book Review - Publishing - Book Reviews

Author DiAnn Mills treats readers to a suspense-filled read with her newest book, Breach of Trust, due out in March 2009.

The story's heroine, Paige Rogers, is an ex-CIA operative, who has gone into hiding in a small town in Oklahoma. To protect her family and loved ones, she has even faked her death and changed her identity.

As the town's librarian, she thinks she has the perfect cover, until her former boss, Daniel Keary, finds her and threatens her if she doesn't cooperate with him. To make matters worse, he's on track to become the next governor of Oklahoma.

The hero of the story is Miles Laird, the high school football coach. He doesn't hide his interest in Paige, but she keeps him at a distance because of her hidden past and threatening future. Dangerous circumstances bring them together in a breathless race to save the life of a child.

This wonderful story is one you won't want to miss. Here a few things I particularly enjoyed about Breach of Trust:

Believable Characters - The author made a pistol-packing librarian seem like she lived next door. Paige Davis is realistically portrayed as both a professional secret agent and a small-town bookworm. Miles Laird is a godly man who cares about Paige and his students, and will do what is necessary to protect them all. The character of Daniel Keary is extremely well-drawn, and the reader is actually pulled inside his thoughts by a point-of-view technique (see the next point).

POV Technique - DiAnn Mills made a brilliant move by writing most of the story in traditional third-person, but using first-person for the character of Daniel Keary. This technique lets us inside the twisted mind of the antagonist. Fascinating!

Plot Twists Galore! - The making of a great suspense read is found in plot points that the reader doesn't expect. Mills pulls this off with superb mastery!

If you're on the lookout for the unexpected, the dangerous, and the suspenseful, don't miss out on reading Breach of Trust by DiAnn Mills!

A Terrific Weight Loss Workout Plan I learned On TV... - Health - Weight Loss

Many years ago, while watching television (one of those prime time teen soap operas), I saw something that was so fascinating that I remember it to this day.

As a motivator for your daily weight loss workout plan, I don't think I've ever run across anything better. I can't remember the name of the show or the name of the actors but I sure do remember this!

One of the teens was an athlete. He played on the high school football team as I recall. It may have been basketball. Anyway...one scene showed him in bed, sound asleep (getting enough sleep is important to weight loss too - but that's a discussion for another day) and the alarm went off.

The vast majority of us hit the snooze button several times before we can work up the energy to get out of bed. Not him! With his eyes still closed, (indicating that he doesn't like to get up in the morning anymore than any other teen) he fumbled around until he found the off button for the clock.

Nothing very memorable yet, but it does get better.

As soon as he managed to turn off the alarm clock, he rolled out of bed. Be aware, that I am not using "rolled out of bed" as a figure of speech. I mean to say he literally rolled out of bed. He landed on the floor in a basic push-up position and then proceeded to crank out 10 quick push-ups.

Can you imagine a better way to get your heart started in the morning? Give this a shot, in no time it becomes addicting.

A quick word of caution. You don't want to hurt yourself by a falling off the bed. Just get out of bed the way you normally do, and then get down on the floor and do some push-ups.

I know you don't like to exercise. I don't either. The more you think about it, the worse it gets. It becomes the dreaded elephant in the room that no one will acknowledge. The more we think about it, the more we delay and the more likely we will skip our weight loss workout plan altogether.

Act like this kid and just do it - automatically - without any thought! Roll out of bed and charge through your weight loss workout plan - as just another part of your daily morning ritual.

Once you've done your quick 10 push-ups, add in some crunches...then add in some...well, you know the rest.

Before you know it, the dreaded daily routine will be over and you can spend the rest of the day energized and that much healthier.

Losing weight doesn't have to be difficult. For access to my free "Fast Weight Loss Tips" mini-course, and bunches of fascinating articles, visit my website.

What Are The Symptoms Of Hemorrhoids? - Health

Many of us have experienced constipation for some reason or another. The most important reason is the lack of fiber in our bodies. However, there are many other reasons for sluggish digestion and difficulty to move the waste products through out body...

After a certain point, constipation can also lead to hemorrhoids. Some of the problems may be caused by a weak immune function, bad diet, illness, medicines, hormones, injury, obesity, lifting heavy objects, lack of liquids in the body, etc.

How do we know if we have hemorrhoids?

Here is the list of symptoms commonly seen in people with hemorrhoids:

1. Pain when trying to pass stools. It could be a dull, constant pain or a shooting pain across the lower bottom of the body.

2. Itching in the anal area or inside the rectum. This can occur if the veins get irritated or if you have thrombosed external hemorrhoids. It may also happen if some bacteria get into an open wound or hemorrhoid which is bleeding and infects the site.

3. Constipation with pain and pressure - the most popular symptom. Constipation may be the cause more than the symptom. However, the growth of the hemorrhoids inside the rectal canal may induce constipation in someone who hasn't experienced it before. Hemorrhoids may grow for hormonal reasons and these hemorrhoids may block the rectal canal causing constipation.

4. Stools with red streaks - This is the blood that leaks out or seeps out when we disturb the hemorrhoid by straining to pass the stool through the rectal canal.

5. Blood in the bathroom tissue which we use to wipe out butt. Since hemorrhoids are simple extended, swollen veins, they break easily when wiped, pushed or scratched. When we try to clean the anus, we may inadvertently put more pressure than necessary and cause bleeding from the hemorrhoids. For many people, this is the first sign of hemorrhoids.

6. Bleeding from a wound in the anus (thrombosed hemorrhoids) - This type of hemorrhoid causes blood clots in the veins and break easily.

7. Intense gas pains in the stomach. Lack of elimination because of constipation or hemorrhoids can cause this intense pain in the abdominal area. Anytime we have constipation, it is good to check for hemorrhoids.

8. Pelvic pains - Sitting in one place for long periods or time (as in a wheelchair) can cause the pelvic muscles to lose their elasticity. Putting pressure on these veins and muscles may lead to hemorrhoids.

9. Difficulty passing stools (internal hemorrhoids may block the movement of stools)

10. The appearance of a flat or marble sized bulge around the anus - although rectal warts look about the same, see if you have additional symptoms such as itching, bleeding, etc.

11. A feeling of something hanging out of the anus (prolapsed hemorrhoid).

12. Difficulty sitting on a flat surface because of pain. As our anus is at the bottom of our body, sitting on a flat surface puts pressure on our rectal muscles and the area around the anus. If you have pain when you sit on a flat bench (similar to the ones in a high school football field) may hurt your bottom as we put the weight on the inflamed veins.

13. Mucous in the bathroom tissue we use to wipe our butt. This may happen if the hemorrhoid is infected and oozing.

14. Sudden bleeding from the anus - burst hemorrhoid - go see a doctor

As you can see, there are many ways in which we can find out if we have hemorrhoids and make a decision to avoid them.

A perfect example of this is, if I smell something, there is no stopping myself; I will eat it even if diner is 20 minutes away. So to say I had the mental strength to quit smoking was a far cry. I found this program while surfing the 'net and thought it was very suspect. I read the site and found out that it had a 100%, 60 day money back guarantee. Reading this, I decided to give it a try. To my delight, it worked as advertised. Now I will say this about the program, the site says that it will have you off cigarettes in roughly 40 minutes. That, at least for me, was not true. It took me 4 days to accomplish this task. I am a 43 year old who feels just like how I did when I was 17 playing high school football! Don't wait another day; rid yourself of this nasty habit now!

The Charismatic Kenny Chesney - Family

Kenny Chesney, the current Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, is a performer even non-country fans are familiar with. Mr. Chesney exudes a natural charm and innocence that goes perfectly with his pure, clear songs. His is not a show anybody who enjoys good music ought to miss.

Kenny Chesney's career began back in 1993, and since then he has released 13 albums. Eleven of those thirteen albums have been certified either Gold or Platinum, which attests to his wild popularity among listeners across the nation. He's had more than thirty songs on the country Top 10 lists - and they didn't just flash in and out, either. But fame hasn't touched what he is at heart - a good-natured, down-to-earth person.

Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1968, he didn't seem destined to be a musician right away. A five-year old Kenny got his first guitar from his parents - which he soon put down saying it "hurt his fingers". As a teenager he was a receiver on the Gibbs High School football team.

At East Tennessee State University, Kenny Chesney was involved in a bluegrass program. He had already started saving money so he could buy a new guitar. This he got, and upon graduation, Kenny Chesney set out on the road to Nashville, home of country.

His talent set him apart, and people noticed. By 1992 he had signed contracts with Opryland Music Group and music industry giant BMI. Two early hits from his career were "In My Wildest Dreams" and "All I Need to Know". His songs are replete with the experience of his own life, and the sincerity and honesty of his anecdotes and emotions make a powerful impression on his audience. Fans feel that they can relate easily to Kenny Chesney the musician and the man.

Many contemporary stars have ventured into other areas. Some start their own clothing lines, some patent their own scents. Chesney, who had the hit song "Beer In Mexico", prefers the road less traveled - he has been creating his own rum. He has even surveyed fans to find out how they like it.

As a live performer Chesney is still hot property. Before his most recent Boston show, tickets disappeared within ten minutes. Not a tremendous accomplishment generally, but keep in the mind the state of the economy: showbiz ticket sales are down, but his shows continue to sell out. In these troubled times, the sight of those signature Kenny Chesney cowboy hats provides as much solace as his music.

Chesney has won a number of awards in different categories including Best Male Country artist. In 1997 he was named the ACM New Male Vocalist of the Year. Just last year he won Entertainer of the Year. Obviously there's more to come.

Kenny Chesney's personal charisma and his most moving lyrics are sure to win audiences well into the future. If he's touring near you, do try to catch one of the most amazing country acts around - you won't regret it.

Why is Kenny Chesney so Popular? - Entertainment

Kenny Chesney is a big name in country music, and holds the current Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year award. He is so popular that music lovers who are not necessarily hooked on to country music know at least something about him. If you meet the big name in person, you will see that he has a subtle charm of his own. He presents a really innocent persona, which is perfectly in keeping with his pure, clear numbers. Any music buff would love to attend at least one of his shows.

Kenny Chesney started out as a fresher way back in 1993, an since that year, he has released over a dozen numbers. Eleven of his thirteen albums have reached Gold or Platinum heights. Now you can tell how popular he is nationwide. Over thirty of his songs have hit the number one position and stayed there for weeks. But success has clearly not gone to his head. He remains the good natured, rooted person as he ever was.

Chesney was born in a Knoxville home in a Tennessee suburb in 1968. no one could tell he was destined to be a musician in the early days. He put away his first guitar, a present from his parents when he was five, saying it hurt his fingers. He was a regular on the high school football team.

He attended East Tennessee State University, and involved himself in a bluegrass program. He was saving hard so he could buy himself a new guitar. And before long, he was on the way to Nashville, the acknowledged home of country music.

Talented he was, and people soon sat up and took notice of this young man. Within months, in early 1992, he'd signed a deal with music giant BMI. In My Wildest Dreams and All I Need to Know were two of his early hits which fan still hum now and then. The persisting charm of his songs lies in the fact that he infuses his own experience with timeless emotion and achieves a blend that never goes wrong. Listeners can instantly relate to the person who actually write the song, and not just idolize Kenny Chesney the celebrity musician.

Like many of his contemporaries in the world of glitz and glamour, Chesney has ventured into a road less traveled by. He has launched his own line of rum. And he has even arranged for surveys among his fans to record how they like his liquors.

Chesney is a fantastically well liked performer. At his last show in Boston, tickets were sold out within ten minutes. If you link that with the state of the economy, you will realize why Chesney is considered red hot property in the business world.

Kenny Chesney Cowboy Hats

The very sight of one of these is reassuring for a faithful fan. You get into the country mood immediately.

Awards have flowed in through the past years for Chesney.Chesney's charisma and carriage have won him lots of fans too. Do try and catch a show of his if he's going to be performing near you. We can promise you'll love the experience.
